5 Autumn Style Essentials & Giveaway

If there’s one thing that I’ve really noticed this year, it’s how much my style choices have changed over the last 12 months. In particular, I’ve found myself reaching for the same few types of items, so I though in todays post I would talk through five of my autumn style essentials, that I’ve had on heavy rotation since the weather has started to cool down. Autumn Style Essentials

01 | The Oversized Sweater
I’ve tried the oversized sweater in so many iterations over the years, but I’ve never really felt like I’ve gotten it quite right. But, I decided to persevere, and I’ve finally found my groove; there are probably no surprises that it’s pretty Scandinavian inspired. Perhaps the sweater that really started it all off was this oversized ivory rollneck from Joseph (similar option here). This has that right kind of slouchy fit, and isn’t too long or too bulky that I can’t tuck it into a skirt or a pair of jeans. One of the more recent additions to my wardrobe has been this charcoal sweater from H&M (luxe version here). I love the colour of this and that it gives you that Acne Studios look for less. Again, this one has been on pretty heavy rotation – the colour just goes with everything!

02 | The Ruffle Sleeve Top
I love a bit of drama when it comes to my tops. My style is so simple, that a little detail that elevates an otherwise basic piece is always something that I’m looking out for. One of my favourite autumn style essentials is a ruffle sleeve top – if you’re wearing a blazer you can easily conceal the frills, and I’ve found them to be such a versatile staple, both for weekends and for the office. My favourite is a black ruffle sleeve top from Sportsgirl which is unfortunately old, but I’ve found similar options HERE and HERE. I also have a really cute one from Vero Moda in a simple ivory hue (similar option here), which has been one of my recent go-tos for the office.

03 | The Check Blazer
You only have to take one look at one of my What I Wore in a Week videos on YouTube to see that I’m pretty fond of the check blazer for autumn. It’s a classic style but I feel like its resurgence has seen it get a modern update. My favourite is this one from Storm but I also think that this is a great alternative in a very similar style.

04 | Frayed Hem Jeans
This is one of those autumn style essentials that won’t be for everyone, but I do love a good pair of jeans with a frayed edge hem. It adds something to my outfits, and I find when paired with the right shoes, it doesn’t look scruffy at all. I’ve been wearing a lot of denim as of late, and the pair I’ve been reaching for the most are these ones from RE/Done, which I managed to snap up on sale. An old favourite of mine are also the farleigh mom jeans from ASOS – I’ve owned a couple of pairs and they’re such a good fit!

05 | The Slingback Flat
It probably seems odd to include a pair of shoes which bares a lot of ankle, but autumn in Sydney is relatively mild – temps today are anticipated to hit 26 deg C, so I feel like these are a safe bet. I love a slingback flat as an alternative to a block heel, as the style is elegant, plus they’re incredibly easy to wear. I’ve been reaching for the Everlane editor slingback flats a lot as of late, and I also really like this pair from Jaggar.
