Where I shop online..

F21 top, Topshop trousers, Karen Walker boyfriend blazer, Miu Miu shoes, Mimco necklace, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, it probably won’t come across as much of a surprise that the majority of my fashion purchases are made online. Living in New Zealand, access to many of the designers that I love, or labels I covet, is not quite as readily available as they may be in the United States, the UK, or even across the ditch in Australia. Because of this, I quite often find myself quite often turning to some of my favourite online stores in search of specific items, or where I have missed out, I try my luck on eBay or the New Zealand counterpart, Trade Me.

It’s not that I don’t enjoy the experience of shopping in a brick & mortar store – because I do on many levels. It provides an experience that isn’t available when you shop online, with person-to-person contact, the option to actually get a feel for the fabrics that are in the garment you are buying, and to try on and get and idea of how it will actually fit on you or whether it suits your body shape. And quite often, stores like RUBY will have customer evenings with delicious treats and cocktails to showcase new collections, which makes it feel just that little bit more special.

That being said, I quite often find myself browsing on Shopbop (which has just added new items to its sale, something I had to practice some real self-restraint to avoid!), as the variety is enormous and provides options at both the lower and higher ends of the scale, as well as the option to view how a garment moves on the model. My other favourites include the usuals such as ASOS, Topshop, and occasionally Forever 21 for trend-driven pieces, and Forward by Elyse Walker, Net-a-Porter and the Outnet when I’m looking for something a little special or carefully crafted. I also quite like browsing Modcloth and Anthropologie for beautiful necklaces and bracelets and their home&decor sections which have rather extensive selections (Urban Outfitters also has a great home section).

My biggest suggestion is to make sure you take special note of your measurements, and be aware of sizing differences across different countries – sizing isn’t necessarily consistent across designers, and doing a quick google search to to confirm if you aren’t sure. Websites like Net-a-Porter and Forward by Elyse Walker are great as they generally give an indication of whether something fits large, or small to size.

Happy shopping!

I do most of my shopping online too – even though we have a decent selection here in Sydney, for some reason it’s a lot more expensive in store than online despite the great currency exchange rates we’re enjoying at the moment! You’re looking fab at home, I normally do my shopping late at night in my jammies! Hehe.

What I love about online shopping is that you’re able to browse a broad range and sometimes it’s easier finding a certain item than scouting it out in a store. But like you said, it can be tricky if you don’t know your size in a certain brand and whatnot and that’s why I really like sites that have good sizing info. Totally shop at the places you mentioned. Love those trousers!

I do m,y fair share of shopping online as well but I generally prefer to actually go to the store. I suppose in some ways it reminds me of different times. Best advice for the online shopper… find a brand that tends to fit you well and stick with it. For me that is AT LOFT… at least at the moment.

Love your pants, I’m also a big fan of Forever 21 and Asos. I love getting trendy pieces at F21 as they are inexpensive. I also love J.Crew and Loft.

Every time I see you wearing those pants, I get terribly jealous and wonder why I don’t have a similar pair in my life – seriously, they look fantastic! I’m more of an online shopper too and while it’s great having so much access to different labels, I keep on doing serious damage to my bank account as a result… x

I love shopping online as it’s just so convenient isn’t it? Except when I receive things and they aren’t quite right, i always hate sending them back. Asos is definitely my favourite place to shop – i can spend hours on there!

Love your outfit! I need to start experimenting a little instead of sticking to boring old favorites. Hear! Hear! That was my biggest problem in NZ. The lack of variety and how ridiculously expensive clothes are.
