I was reflecting on Instagram this morning on how much style has shifted over the last few years, but in the same vein that it’s seen a change, I’ve also noticed a few things that keep popping up. Patterns aren’t prevalent in my wardrobe by any means, but houndstooth has long been one of those classic prints that I’ve always found myself drawn to.
Wearing Grana silk cami (this is also a great option), c/o RE/Done frayed hem jeans (15% off with mademoiselle15 & also available here on sale), c/o Boden houndstooth coat (love the skirt too), Vaneli two tone pumps (also here), Celine trotteur bag (affordable here)
I still haven’t had the opportunity to make my way through all the runway shows that have been happening over the past few weeks, let alone those from six months ago, but one thing I do know is that houndstooth is a big trend for the season ahead. While I don’t do trends (or patterns) often, this is one that I will quite happily get on board with. In part, it’s because it has such a huge element of nostalgia for me. My mum was always such an elegant woman, and she had this gorgeous houndstooth blazer coat with a black velvet collar – one that I probably would have nicked for my own wardrobe if it wasn’t a size or two too big for me.
Despite the fact that spring and summer are on the way, I’ve still found plenty of opportunities to immerse myself in this autumn trend, by wearing this gorgeous houndstooth wool coat from Boden, and am actually really excited to share in a few weeks’ time, how perfectly this coat works for a corporate workwear “capsule” wardrobe. I’ve gone for a pared back outfit, which I wore last weekend while we were out running a few errands for the house, and it’s been a staple this past week as we’ve battled rain and dipping temperatures here in Sydney. The robe style detail makes this one really effortless to throw on, it’s a chic midi length, and I just love the creamy grey and navy houndstooth – it’s a point of difference to your traditional black and white houndstooth design.
I’d love to know, will you be adding a bit of houndstooth print into your wardrobe? x

I got a size UK8 though it’s pretty oversized on me; I think I probably could have also worn the UK6 x
