To finish up the week I thought I’d share a quick post with 10 autumn outfit ideas that I’ll be wearing for the season ahead. My style has definitely shifted a bit in the last six months, as silhouettes have become decidedly less structured and more so relaxed in nature.
There are no major themes – trend-wise that is – underlining my style choices for autumn this year, except for a hint of neutrals (though I think you already knew that…).
Some of the big style staples for me this season include:
01 | Denim
Rewind five or six years, and I had two, maybe three pairs of jeans at my disposal, but today, they’re a big part of my style identity. I’ll be elevating these a notch by pairing them with low heels, pointed toe flats, and easy tailoring like crisp cotton poplin shirts and oversized blazers. I’m not loyal to any particular wash, and I’m still on the hunt for the perfect relaxed fitting jean, but I love that I’ve got a few different silhouettes handy so that I can mix things up.
02 | Blazers
In some ways I’ve come full circle back to a few of the style staples from my early twenties – blazers being one of them. Autumn in Sydney is generally quite mild, so I see these as being more of a transitional style jacket when it’s a little cool.
03 | Pointed toe shoes
You’d think at 5’8″ I’d have quite long legs, but as I carry a lot of my height in my torso, I find I need to be smart about what I wear on my lower half to keep my proportions balanced. A pointed toe shoe is a favourite of mine as it adds visual height and makes your legs look longer.
04 | Easy knitwear
I should probably preface this by saying that nothing about my wardrobe is particularly complicated, but what I’m loving for autumn are simple, lightweight sweaters. Crew-necks, loose-fitting v-necks, and roll necks. It’s a no brainer that these are an autumn wardrobe essential for sure, though looking back it’s strange to think that at one time I didn’t really own any knitwear at all.
Below you can watch my autumn outfit ideas in action, and links to the key items are in the carousel (just in case curiosity gets the better of you…). Let me know if you have a favourite in the comments and hope you have a wonderful weekend ahead! x
