I’ve somehow managed to hang on to a small stash of pre-baby bump photos that I’ve yet to share; this minimal black and white gingham number among them. I took these towards the start of spring – before I started showing – and really loved this combination.

Wearing Everlane air tee, Staple the Label gingham skirt (old but similar here and also here), Tony Bianco bow mules, Everlane day tote mini, Mejuri shell necklace and rolo bracelet, Pandora ring

One thing I talk about a lot, is how I like to balance out my proportions. I have a long torso for my height, so wearing high-waisted styles helps to paint the illusion that my legs are longer than they are. This gingham skirt (old now, sorry!) has been one of those wonderful transition pieces, as my belly has steadily grown over the past few months. The waistband is elasticated, so I’ve worn it higher (and higher) up my torso to accommodate little bump.

For shoes, I went with my Tony Bianco bow mules. I bought these as part of the 5PFW Challenge I so poorly attempted earlier in the year. And you know what? I’ve spent the last couple months wondering if they’re right for me. I love the style, love them on others, yet for some reason I hardly ever seem to reach for them. It goes to show that even careful planning of your wardrobe sometimes ends in purchases that might not be quite right for you.

That said, I decided to mimic that knotted detail from the shoes on my t-shirt. This is one of the air tees from Everlane and again another great piece that I can still wear now as it’s fairly long. I particularly love these as they have a vintage feel to them, though it’s worth noting they aren’t super soft like a pima cotton tee might be. I personally love that little bit of texture, and the lightweight nature of the cotton is perfect for our Sydney summers. I don’t tend to show off my midriff often (is being in your thirties too old for that? #notsure), but the little peek of skin is playful and fun, not to mention refreshing after months of being bundled up in cosy knit sweaters.

The final piece of my outfit is my bag; the Everlane day tote mini. I’ve done a full review on this HERE if you’d like to have a read. This is one of those wardrobe additions I’ve really enjoyed this year. The straps are detachable but I tend to just tuck them into the bag when I want to carry it as a top handle. It’s a great size for day-to-day and fits a book; perfect for when I catch the train into the city. The leather has continued to soften and it has more of a slouchy look to it compared to when I first got the bag. I’ll admit, I do wish it retained a bit more of its structure, so I instead hang on to this as a more casual bag option.

With Christmas just one sleep away, I want to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas, and all the best over the holidays. I’ll be posting intermittently between now and the New Year, and back to posting three times a week starting Monday 6 January! xx
