Avene Hydrance Intense Rehydrating Serum and Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel review

I’ve tried a lot of skincare over the years. And I mean a lot. But naturally, there are products which years on, have left a lasting impression on me. So today’s post is an ode to those tried and true skincare heroes which are 100% worth the repurchase…

Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm

Back in 2017, when I would only do a single cleanse at night, this was my HG. Super emollient, it literally melts away makeup so effectively, that I never felt like I needed to follow up with any additional product. I tend to be quite liberal with this, mostly as I wear pretty heavy duty eye makeup on a daily basis. Will always be a forever favourite, and is back on rotation as one of my go-to’s for my first cleanse.

Okay so this is more of a “recent” discovery from the past year, but I love it so much I had to mention it again. This to me sums up everything I look for in a gel cleanser. Key to making this a great one for makeup removal is the virgin marula oil (also rich in antioxidants). It’s gentle, removes stubborn makeup, doesn’t strip my skin of essential oils, and as a bonus? A tube will take me a good three months or so to get through.

I have oily/combination but dehydrated skin, so adding nourishment back into my complexion is a core focus of my skincare routine. And for anyone that cares to ask, I’ll often rattle this one off as one of my top hydrating serums. I’m prone to milia, so it’s a bit like Russian roulette whenever I apply anything too rich or heavy to my complexion. But despite the name, this has a lightweight, gel consistency, which I really appreciate. The formulation is incredibly gentle, so perfect if you have sensitive skin. For me I find my complexion looks fuller, plumper and just more replenished when I’m using this regularly.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

One of my all-time favourite skincare products has to be the Papaya Enzyme Peel from Elemis. It uses fruit enzymes from papaya and pineapple to exfoliate, which is much gentler than your typical peel, but I’ve personally found it to be really effective. My complexion feels supple and smooth after use; almost plumped, which I put down to the inclusion of marine algae for moisture and repair. A great option if you have sensitive skin. Oh, and did I mention that is smells positively delightful?
