Public access to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has now begun! If you haven’t had a chance to check out my guide for this years’ sale, I shared what I consider to be the best of the bunch in this post HERE. Today, I wanted to whittle it down even further, highlighting five of my favourites from the sale.
#1 | La Ligne striped cotton sweater
We can probably all agree that I don’t need another striped sweater, but if I were on the lookout, this striped mariniere from La Ligne would definitely be a contender. It’s 100% cotton which makes it a good year rounder, as well as suitable for those with sensitive skin types who tend to avoid wool knits. While the details lean slightly more trendy (the v-neckline with collar), this is the type of item that’s a classic. And when you buy well, and take care of it, it’ll be something that will stick around in your closet for years.
#2 | Treasure & Bond white lace top
Not every wardrobe addition has to be a splurge. Balance is key – opting for items which will not only act as core foundations for your outfits, but also ones that have some personality. That’s what I liked about this top from Treasure & Bond; to me, a great layering piece to wear under knits, overalls, or silky slip dresses. But it also stands up on its own, and is one of those work to weekend styles. Think paired with denim and an oversized blazer or trench for the weekend, or worn with a pencil skirt and blazer for the office.
#3 | AGL black pointed toe booties
If you could sum up winter in a pair of shoes, it’d be a black boot. An absolute classic, that’ll never go out of style. I was drawn to this pair from AGL for the details; zip up closure at the back, and tortoise effect heel. It has a pointed toe too, which when worn with black jeans or tights, has the visual impact of making your legs look even longer than they really are. These are a little more on the pricey side, but I’ve always found it worthwhile to spend a little more on good quality shoes.
#4 | Sam Edelman trench coat
Another classic, especially for the transitional months, is a good trench coat. This particular silhouette has been a key piece in my closet for close to two decades; it’s a style that just doesn’t date. The beige hue of this Sam Edelman iteration is a good neutral so will pair well with your closet regardless of the colour palette. Also, it’s water resistant, so practical too if you get caught out in the rain. Comes in black if you want something a bit more high contrast.
#5 | Vince slip skirt
My final pick from the 2022 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is this slip skirt from Vince. This exact piece has been taking up some serious real estate in my mind for the past few years, I’ve just never quite gotten around to adding it to cart. Probably because I have a couple of similar slip skirts already which do the job just fine. That said, if you are on the hunt, I think this is a gorgeous option. I’m drawn to the fact that it has an elasticated waistband, and I especially love the crinkled effect to the satin. Comes in cream, black and navy – all good options.
Notable mentions? This leather jacket from All Saints, which I own. The quality is exceptional, and it’s a classic cut. Does run small however so I recommend sizing up one size if you plan to wear it with slimmer knits, or two sizes if you want to wear a chunky sweater with it. Also, this coat from Max Mara. A huge splurge, but it’s a classic silhouette for the brand which won’t go out of style. It was out of stock last time I checked, but worth keeping an eye out on the listing if your budget is at the higher end of the spectrum this year.
