I recently saw some statistics on the pre-loved fashion market, and was thrilled to spot that year on year, it’s been a growing part of clothing budgets. I’ve been buying pre-loved clothing since I was in my teens. It was a way for me to add to my wardrobe on a budget, plus invest in brands that might otherwise be out of my price range. And while my motivations may have shifted slightly, my love for pre-loved fashion hasn’t.

In homage to my love of pre-loved fashion, I thought I’d focus on a couple recent wardrobe additions that I’ve been enjoying wearing. One, was a 5PFW purchase that I’d been planning for a while, and another falls within the under $200 category, which was part of my drive to focus more on buying pre-loved for 2019.
Frame Denim black cuffed top | I tend to shop pre-loved fashion one of two ways. The first requires some serious patience, as it usually involves me trying to track down a very specific item. This top from Frame falls in the latter method; which is a general scroll through one of my saved searches on The Real Real. While I didn’t have anything like this on my wishlist, I did all the usual tricks. I waited 30 days until I bit the bullet and clicked ‘add to cart’, and I thought of at least five different ways I could wear it. I’ve probably said this about quite a few of my pre-loved purchases for 2019, but this is definitely one of my favourites. The fabric is semi-sheer with a subtle grid pattern which I love, but the standout detail is definitely those tie flutter-cuff sleeves. I seem to have a penchant for this feminine design detail, as it’s something that pops up again and again in my top purchases. My style is pretty basic, so I find this little touch of drama helps keep things interesting.
Dior j’adior slingback flats | Of everything in my wardrobe, shoes are probably my favourite thing to buy. Mostly, I think it’s because they can have such an impact on an outfit; whether it’s minimal or a statement look. I shared on these shoes in a recent post and have really enjoyed throwing them into regular rotation. The textured fabric elevates the otherwise classic silhouette, and while I’m not too much of a ‘logo mania’ girl, I actually love the way the ‘j’adior’ ribbon looks. I’ve basically lived in denim for the past week, and these have been my shoe of choice to help jazz up my outfit.
Have you made any pre-loved fashion purchases recently?
Muru Jewellery necklace kindly gifted.
Agreed, I love buying pre-loved because it helps me get designer for less and I can feel better knowing I’m helping the environment. Both the top and shoes are gorgeous!
