A good – and versatile – wardrobe is founded on the classics. And as I keep saying, the devil is in the details. Classic doesn’t have to mean plain, and it’s here that you can get creative with what a wardrobe staple signifies for you (and ultimately, your personal style). In partnership with T Galleria by DFS, an incredible duty-free shopping destination in The Rocks, I’ll be running through some of my favourite finds from in-store, as part of a curated capsule wardrobe edit. Perfect timing with Christmas coming up, if you plan on either treating yourselves before an international getaway, or want to get a special something for a loved one.
The good bag
Accessories have the power to make or break an outfit, so I always think it’s worth investing time in selecting the right one for you. The parameters might look a little different for spring/summer than in autumn/winter, so personally, I like to have a couple of options that I can rotate depending on the season and my mood. In winter, a rich leather; something with shine or a nice grain to it is always a winner. It adds texture and dimension to an outfit. In the warmer months, I like a lighter colour palette, or canvas and woven textures. Featuring two of my picks here from T Galleria by DFS; the Burberry Pocket Mini Canvas Cross-Body Bag (RRP $1991, Tax/Duty Free $1810), and the Loewe Balloon Small Cotton Canvas Bucket Bag (RRP $3700, Tax/Duty Free $3364).
A stand-out knit
My personal knitwear obsession knows no bounds; I’m not the type who will just stop at one, especially where sweater weather is concerned. One thing I do think is worth adding to your curated capsule edit, is a stand-out knit. Something with serious personality, which can be a statement in of itself, or a complement to your outfit depending on the styling. From T Galleria by DFS I chose this classic check monogram from Burberry in a wool-cashmere blend (RRP $1590, Tax/Duty Free $1446). Good knitwear is worth splurging on, and this particular one I especially liked because worn fully buttoned it doesn’t hug the hips; it’s a little more on the relaxed side.
An all-seasons jacket
There are very few wardrobe staples which qualify as being year rounders, but I think a trench coat can be one of them. Depending on the climate, that is! Again, there’s options; a Mac or a classic trench. Opting here for another iconic piece from Burberry; their Kensington Trench Coat (RRP $3290, Tax/Duty Free $2991). T Galleria by DFS also stock this in the black, if you prefer something a little more muted.
A leather belt with an interesting buckle
Getting a little specific here, but hardware on accessories like a belt can be such a personal thing. Rather than a standard rounded edge design, I like to look for belts with angular or elaborate buckles which feel elevated. I spotted so many good ones at T Galleria by DFS, but in the end settled on the Gancini Belt from Salvatore Ferragamo (RRP $925, Tax/Duty Free $840) as I adored the twisted knot design.
Shoes that make you feel *special*
Another one of my weaknesses; a great pair of shoes. Since becoming a mum, comfort is king, so a chic sneaker, ballet flat, or low pair of pumps are typically my first choice. Again, T Galleria by DFS have a great selection, but my top two picks from in-store are the Alexander McQueen sneakers with exaggerated sole, and the Viva pumps from Salvatore Ferragamo for their mid-height block heel.
Shopping at T Galleria by DFS
All these beautiful picks are items you can shop duty-free at T Galleria by DFS; all items are tax and duty-free up to 60 days before you shop. Perfect now that quarantine-free travel out of NSW has begun. All you need to shop is a copy of your itinerary for your overseas getaway, and you can get up to 20% off luxury goods including watches, bags, clothing and beauty.
Personally, I love this experience as you can really take your time browsing, without the worry of having a flight to catch. Plus, one of the best parts of shopping there is that despite its close proximity to the CBD, there are noqueues at any of the luxury boutiques.
Of course, you don’t need to be travelling internationally to shop at T Galleria by DFS. If you like luxury shopping but want to give the crowds a miss, you can get your shopping fix in at DFS, while spending a day out at The Rocks.
In addition to being a relaxing way to shop luxury, T Galleria by DFS is also home to a number of exclusive collections, across fashion and beauty. One of my personal favourites is this Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Travel Set, but other beauty exclusives include Guerlain, Fresh Beauty, and Jo Malone to name a few.
Then of course there’s the fashion exclusives that you won’t find anyway else. In-store right now, you can shop exclusive collections from Moncler, Bvlgari, Chopard, Burberry, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Bally Hike. Plus, there are regular pop-ups; the current fashion pop-up being with Comme des Garcon.
If you don’t want to come into the city, you can also shop virtually with a click and collect option via the DFS website HERE.
Regular travellers might like to sign up for a Loyal T account, which entitles you to a growing range of benefits based on your annual spend. Plus, you’ll be the first to hear about the latest launches and exclusive events (including their upcoming Boxing Day sales event – yes please!), and gain access to their personal shopping service. You can sign up for your Loyal T Account HERE.
As I mentioned earlier, it’s the perfect spot if you’re planning to do a little bit of Christmas shopping; so many treats for you and your loved ones. And if you have an international holiday planned, a fantastic opportunity to pick up something special while saving up to 20% off retail.
Thank you to T Galleria by DFS for partnering with me on this post.
