As far as my personal style journey goes, it feels like I’ve recently entered what I’d consider a “playful” era. In my twenties, I dialled back the total number of items in my closet to around 65-70. I spent time considering which core pieces most felt reflective of me. While simultaneously shedding my closet of any items that had serious spark or personality. It was classic. Reflecting back, it felt a little reminiscent of the types of items my mum was fond of. Funny that.
My wish lists were purposeful. Each and every item I added to my closet was to serve a very distinct role. And there were no duplicates.
A decade on, and my closet is basically complete. Its size is much more generous than the whittled down number I strived to reach at the start of my journey. Something I’m absolutely okay with; I mean, I love fashion, and playing with the nuances of style. I may have more than one pair of black trousers in my closet, but no two pairs are the same, nor do they quite fulfil the same purpose for me.
Seasonally planning out my closet no longer feels appropriate. Instead, I find myself enjoying the act of browsing, absolutely unfettered. Delighting in what is new for the season, rather than having a laser focus on tracking down a very specific item.
Two kids down, and I’m settled in my style, at least for this “season” of my life. I know what works for my body shape, and more-or-less the colours which suit me. And I’m at a point where I do want to have a bit more fun with what I’m wearing, while keeping it *somewhat* classic. Its all in degrees.
In some ways, I think what I’ve been bookmarking recently reflects that. Textures, some bold colours, and basics with a twist. Nothing is particularly a need, and these days I’m more likely to save something to my bookmarks, only to pass on it a few weeks later. There’s something to be said for the act of appreciating an item, admiring its allure, and then simply, moving on.
So this morning, I decided to share a video which very much highlights this. A list of items I’ve been admiring lately; some of which I might go on to purchase. Watch this space.

Hi Veronica, I did! Ultimately decided that it wasn’t quite the right piece for me, at least in the ecru. It felt a little too formal, but then, I’ve seen it on others and it looks really chic (typically in either one of the bright colours or navy). Quality was beautiful. I ordered a size M, and think that was the right size for me. I’m a size AU8/US4 and small chested. Was after a relaxed, jacket like fit. Hope that helps! x
