An A/W Capsule Wardrobe

I know, I know. For someone currently wrapping up the final few weeks of summer, I’m talking about autumn/winter style an awful lot. But just hear me out. As much as I love summer, 35+ deg C days don’t exactly inspire the most creativity with outfits. You want to feel cool, comfortable, and not look too sloppy. So while I’m a total summer baby, it’s the opportunity to truly experiment with style during the cooler months that I love. As a bit of a follow up to my most recent YT video (which I’ve embedded below), I thought I’d share a quick A/W Capsule Wardrobe.

I’m not a minimalist by any means, instead choosing to curate my wardrobe based on what I love and gives me joy. But being pregnant has definitely warmed me back to the benefits of a capsule wardrobe. Getting dressed in the mornings is easier. Your style is more defined. Those style favourites actually get worn on repeat. You get the idea. If you’re new to the whole capsule wardrobe thing (or are curious to give it a go), I have previously shared guides on how to build one HERE.

For me, the key is always in starting with a general colour palette. My closet is packed with neutrals – mostly in white, grey and black – so that’s generally the jump off point. I’ll decide whether I want to add in any accent colours or patterns (think denim, polka dots, stripes etc), and then set about mapping out the individual items. For this mini A/W capsule wardrobe I decided to stick to black, white and grey, with some blue washed denim, a polka dot print, and a checked piece for variety.

    This looks gorgeous.
A couple tips for once baby arrives, I am sure you are across these but itโ€™s nice to help fellow mums out ๐Ÿ™‚
    1. stick to machine washable knitwear. Babies are messy, especially on your shoulders. Their little fingers also grab fabric so you donโ€™t want anything that will shed fibres
    2. Oversized cardigans are great if you are breastfeeding
    3. It will be a while before tight waisted bottoms are comfortable. The best purchase I made was C&M Charlton pants

    Good luck!

Thanks Kirsty! Hehe thanks for the tips, you’ve read my mind – definitely opting for things that are machine washable, and have added a couple of cardigans that button up (and can be worn like tops) which I figure I’ll wear a lot with trousers post-birth. Funny you mention pants as I bought a pair early on in pregnancy, and just got some nice ones from KW which are an oatmeal linen, that both have a drawstring waist. They’re both so light and are a loose fit too so will be like wearing pyjamas XD

Really love this post in particular and your blog. I am so happy to see somebody (like me) to continue to write constantly in a blog today, the era of instagram. xoxo from Italy

Thanks so much Alba! I personally love reading a good blog – though I started pretty early (when I was 13, and am now 32!). Hope you have an amazing week ahead ๐Ÿ™‚
