Quite possibly one of the sweetest, and most ridiculously photogenic people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting over Fashion Week while in Australia is the effervescent Natalie Cantell. Dressed almost head to toe in RUBY, a label it would appear that we both have a bit of a soft spot for..
I would have been lying if I had said I wasn’t looking forward to the Alice McCall show, with the invitation hinting at something both vibrant and truly beautiful. Official handouts described in an increasingly verbose fashion, a collection which predominantly took inspiration from the sea, and artists Ernst Haekel and Rene Jules Lalique. Surpassing any expectations I may have had, McCall’s cruise collection seemed to mimic life below the sea, in silky fabrics that glided along the runway like a jellyfish through water, in soft muted tones, with brightness coming from the intricately designed watercolour prints. McCall’s signature cut-out…
Alexander Wang singlet & kori oxfords (not shown), Manning Cartell skirt, Karen Walker coat (similar) and jewellery, MBMJ bracelet, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag I wasn’t expecting it to be so rainy in Sydney – or cold for that matter – and while I was rather certain yesterday that an umbrella and a coat were unlikely to be necessary through the week, and I could not have been more wrong. The rain I was prepared for, the cold, not so much, and while waiting to meet up with my younger sister I somehow managed to become victim to a huge spray…
Day two in Sydney pretty much had the same in store for me as day one. Nothing but on-going exhaustion, sore feet, and a multitude of fashionable people. Having initially looked at my schedule to find that I had the Tuesday morning free, my first thought was “sleep in!”, although what actually occurred was the polar opposite, waking up just shy of 6am to meet a Sydney-based friend for breakfast and at that point, a much-needed caffeine hit. So much for sleeping in. My first show of the day wasn’t until the early afternoon, beginning with Jayson Brunsdon, who this…
Trenery stripe top, RUBY pixie skirt, See by Chloe boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Mimco necklace With such an early start, and no time to change, I decided to keep it simple wearing stripes, a black mini and some black booties. Even with the Sydney heat, I probably wouldn’t do it any differently had I come a day earlier. All topped off with a statement necklace, my daily jewels and of course, my PS11. Having had a full on week as it is, feeling pretty good about managing to churn out three posts today already, 22 hours plus after waking…
