While it was probably hard to notice, every day I was in Sydney for Fashion Week I found myself reaching for the same pieces of jewellery. Which, I should probably point out, are the same pieces of jewellery that I tend to wear on an almost daily basis, any diversion from this a rare occurrence. There’s something comforting about the familiarity of a piece that is worn daily, however small it may be, and considering how little I seem to like change, it’s a small comfort I tend to cling to. Transitioning from silver, to white gold and yellow gold…
Equipment sleeveless blouse, Karen Walker blazer (similar), girl. by Band of Outsiders skirt (similar), See by Chloe boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag Perhaps the most ironic thing about Fashion Week has been noticing the footwear choices shift from sky high heels on day one, through to a lower or non-existent heel as the week progresses. Essentially a choice of comfort over style. Bucking from the trend I thought I would see out the day in the these heeled boots, a decision that I considered a huge mistake by the time 5pm rolled around. Shoes aside, the gorgeous weather in Sydney…
Quite possibly one of the sweetest, and most ridiculously photogenic people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting over Fashion Week while in Australia is the effervescent Natalie Cantell. Dressed almost head to toe in RUBY, a label it would appear that we both have a bit of a soft spot for..
I would have been lying if I had said I wasn’t looking forward to the Alice McCall show, with the invitation hinting at something both vibrant and truly beautiful. Official handouts described in an increasingly verbose fashion, a collection which predominantly took inspiration from the sea, and artists Ernst Haekel and Rene Jules Lalique. Surpassing any expectations I may have had, McCall’s cruise collection seemed to mimic life below the sea, in silky fabrics that glided along the runway like a jellyfish through water, in soft muted tones, with brightness coming from the intricately designed watercolour prints. McCall’s signature cut-out…
Alexander Wang singlet & kori oxfords (not shown), Manning Cartell skirt, Karen Walker coat (similar) and jewellery, MBMJ bracelet, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag I wasn’t expecting it to be so rainy in Sydney – or cold for that matter – and while I was rather certain yesterday that an umbrella and a coat were unlikely to be necessary through the week, and I could not have been more wrong. The rain I was prepared for, the cold, not so much, and while waiting to meet up with my younger sister I somehow managed to become victim to a huge spray…
