Day two in Sydney pretty much had the same in store for me as day one. Nothing but on-going exhaustion, sore feet, and a multitude of fashionable people. Having initially looked at my schedule to find that I had the Tuesday morning free, my first thought was “sleep in!”, although what actually occurred was the polar opposite, waking up just shy of 6am to meet a Sydney-based friend for breakfast and at that point, a much-needed caffeine hit. So much for sleeping in. My first show of the day wasn’t until the early afternoon, beginning with Jayson Brunsdon, who this…
Trenery stripe top, RUBY pixie skirt, See by Chloe boots, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Mimco necklace With such an early start, and no time to change, I decided to keep it simple wearing stripes, a black mini and some black booties. Even with the Sydney heat, I probably wouldn’t do it any differently had I come a day earlier. All topped off with a statement necklace, my daily jewels and of course, my PS11. Having had a full on week as it is, feeling pretty good about managing to churn out three posts today already, 22 hours plus after waking…
Retrospect was the theme at Aurelio Costarella’s presentation at MBFWA this morning. Celebrating 30 years in the Australian Fashion Industry, Costarella combined recurring themes from past collections, creating something truly beautiful in the full sense of the word. I’m always told a photo is worth a thousand words, so on that note, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!
ph. by me – in order of shows attended Crawling out of bed this morning at some ungodly hour, I was clearly on autopilot as I prepared to head to the airport. In some random stroke of luck, all went without a hitch as my plane landed a half hour early in Sydney and customs queues were nonexistent, essentially washing away any concerns I may have had about missing the Camilla & Marc show. A show studded with beautifully structured pieces in rich colours and fabrics, which as the designers themselves put it, was a representation of the past, present…
Final stop for the night was the Service Depot, for a special off-site presentation of Jimmy D’s AW’13 ‘Gloom Generation’ collection, hosted in collaboration with Matthew Stopforth of BrightBlack. As time slowly progressed, Service Depot filled up with a darkly dressed fashionable crowd, who shortly after 9pm, were asked to part from the runway, so that the show could begin. Sullen looking models took to the runway, stopping to sit at the carefully formed seating area at the front of the window. Essentially forming an art installation of sorts, the models sat in front of a ‘faux fire’, attempting to…
