Have you ever heard of the concept “fantasy self”? It’s something that’s been playing on my mind a lot recently as my personal style boundaries shift and evolve in my role as a new mum. Previously, I never would have given it a second thought. If I saw something I liked – presuming it was in line with my style – I would think nothing of buying it. Only recently have I started to think about who I’m shopping for. Is it me, or is it my fantasy self? Wearing Lola Rae top (sold out but this is a similar…
I definitely had one of those lazy weekends. No makeup, and aside from two 5K walks outside, I was snuggled up indoors with our little one. When it came to getting dressed, I focused both my outfits around wanting to wear a central piece. Wearing Everlane alpaca sweater; Madewell skinny jeans; Everlane 40 hour flats; JW Anderson bag On Saturday, that item was my Everlane alpaca sweater. This is super light and fluffy, and provides the perfect amount of warmth for a Sydney winter. Part of the reason why I think I’m so drawn to this particular sweater is because…
I finished up the week with two very relaxed outfits (and another item swap – more on that soon). For Thursday, I focused the core of my outfit around wanting to wear sneakers. I was meeting up with a mum’s group for the first time at Sydney Park, and wanted to feel comfortable as we did a large loop of the grounds. No surprises here, but one thing I gravitate towards when I’m not 100% sure on what to wear is stripes. Wearing Uniqlo mens stripe top (old but this is cute); Zara skinny jeans (old but these are similar);…
Halfway through my capsule, and I can already see how different my attitude is towards this wardrobe method the second time around. One of the main reasons I stopped doing capsule wardrobes in the first place was because I constantly felt restricted. It stopped being a “fun” way to get dressed in the morning, and I had an underlying resentment towards it because I was so grounded and focused on the rules. Wearing H&M blue shirt (sold out but I love this one); Christopher Kane skirt (old but this is cute); & Other Stories cardigan; Vaneli two tone pumps; Ateliers…
Two weeks in and almost at the halfway point, I’ve gone for a classic combo I always love wearing. My Joseph knit sweater, paired with faded black skinny jeans a two-tone pumps. I wore a similar iteration around a month ago, and clearly am not stranger to repeating outfits (or combinations) that I love. Wearing Joseph knit sweater (similar alternative); Uniqlo tee (worn underneath); Zara jeans (old but love these as an alternative); Vaneli two-tone pumps; Polene number one nano bag* I wore this for my first trip into the city in over five months for an appointment and to…
