Autumn Most Worn Items 2022

Probably the biggest insights into my personal style have come about from these seasonal check-ins. A true reflection of what I’m actually wearing. Not what I think I’m wearing on repeat. Autumn was a bit of a funny one for me. It marked the end of my pregnancy, but also, it was warm. A lot of basics you’d typically associate with spring and summer showed up as being on regular rotation. Which, if that’s not a hint for how little I’ve worn my coats this winter, I don’t know what is.

So let’s chat through the list.

ITEMS MENTIONED

Nilby P navy nylon trench coat (gifted; size S – 12% off with Mademoiselle2022) & Ceres Life denim jacket (size S/M) | My most worn jacket was tied, between a navy nylon trench coat from Nilby P, and an oversized denim jacket from Ceres Life. What I found was that when I did need that outer layer, I was after something that was fairly lightweight, and classic in nature. No frills, no fuss, just simple. The nylon trench in particular was a key piece on my wishlist for the season. Black can sometimes feel a little stark or high contrast, especially on no makeup days. So navy is a great alternative to keep that depth of colour, but have a slightly softer look. This particular one is fully lined and a quite thick nylon, which gives it weight and a slight bit of structure. Both of which add an air of refinement to the style. By contrast, the denim jacket is incredibly casual. I reserved this for days when I wanted to dial down my outfit a little, or opt for something more chill. The denim is so incredibly soft and feels really lived in, a factor that is a huge drawcard to me.

Jenni Kayne cashmere cardigan (size S – 15% off with JamieLee15) | Most worn piece of knitwear was the Jenni Kayne cashmere cocoon cardigan (review here). Basic, but very luxurious feeling, it rivals a very spendy purchase from years ago, just ever so slightly thinner. The cashmere is super plush, and I like the fit. However, it’s worth noting that yes, it’s an expensive cardigan. If you have the budget, I can’t recommend it enough (like with all cashmere, expect some pilling). But, if you don’t quite have the budget, then this one from Quince is a great affordable alternative.

Re/Done classic tee (size S – FFJAMIE for 10% off sitewide) | No surprises that my most worn top was the humble t-shirt, yet again. This pops up every single season, and is purely reflective of the more relaxed way I tend to dress these days. It’s funny that I went from being a girl with just one basic tee in her closet, to one with many in just a matter of years. The Re/Done tees are fab if you want a slimmer fit and a textured but weathered feeling cotton. Almost has an aged element to the fabric. I have it in two colours and have worn both so many times that the fabric has worn. But nothing five minutes with a needle and thread can’t fix. Other brands I like for their t-shirts are Arket and Uniqlo.

Sezane Carolina skirt (size US4/AU8/FR36) | One of the surprises for me, was spying that my most worn skirt was a mini. The Carolina skirt from Sezane. I bought this last year and it’s been a favourite. The ruffles are sweet and flirty, but can easily be dialled down with an oversized knit (or aforementioned denim jacket). Also love the ditsy micro floral. This is one of the brand’s core styles and it’s not hard to see why.

Commando leggings (size S) | My most worn pants were from Commando; actually, their neoprene bike shorts, in addition to their classic control top leggings. These are just so darn comfortable, and were perfect during that initial postpartum period as they’re well-fitted and provide a lot of support at the waist. I recommend the neoprene fabric as it doesn’t pick up lint!

Everlane original cheeky jean (size 26) | I have a couple pairs of jeans which I lean on a lot, one of which is the Everlane cheeky jean. This style got a bit of an update, and dare I say it, it’s better that the original. The cut seems to fit ever so slightly better (with a higher rise if I’m not mistaken), and they have a decent amount of stretch to them. Perfect for my day to day. I find that this style fits true to size and take my usual size 26.

Quince crossbody bag | Most worn bag was a smaller crossbody, this one from Quince. Hands down one of my best purchases from the brand. This style of bag was popularised about 7 years ago when the Gucci Soho Disco had its moment, but it’s such a classic I don’t think you can go wrong. I’ve not babied mine at all and can’t find a single scratch. Only real noticeable sign of wear is the fact that the structural integrity has been compromised somewhat; the top of the bag slouches in slightly. If you live outside of the US and want to get your hands on this bag, I used Shipito mail forwarding to get mine.

YSL tribute slides (size EU41) & Oliver Cabell dream flats (size EU40) | Finally wrapping things up with my most worn shoes, Again, a bit of a tie between a ballet flat, and a slip on sandal. For me, comfort and ease of wear really take priority here. And I wasn’t surprised to see that my Oliver Cabell dream flats took the top spot. I tend to like walking in shoes other than sneakers. The reason being that I still want to look and feel like myself while exercising. So I tend to opt for a glove like ballet flat. It looks like the brand is discontinuing this style which is a real shame as the quality and comfort are incredible. The other pair of shoes is one of my favourites; the YSL tribute slides. A bit of a costly shoe purchase, but I’ve found them to be well worth it. They look good with everything – both casual and dressy outfits – and are pretty comfortable too. While I wouldn’t wear them on a serious walk (I’d get blisters, for sure), they’re generally a safe choice for day-to-day.
