It might currently be 27 deg C here in Sydney, but that hasn’t stopped me from poring over the new Sezane Winter collection lookbook. Again, just like their Pre-Fall collection, they’ve knocked it out of the park. So once again I’m doing a little virtual window shop (and maybe doing a little pre-planning for my 2024 A/W wardrobe…). Here are the five best pieces to add to cart, and why.
Sezane Winter Collection 2023 – Best Pieces!
Sezane Douglas Jumper & Adda Skirt | Physically stopping myself from adding this set to cart immediately. It’s an update on the Naelle/Naella styes, in a playful “burnout” yarn. Having that uneven gradient all over adds visual interest and dimension – I can’t stop looking at it. The styles are cute too. A classic crew with (functional) button closure at the collar, and a slim fitted mini skirt. Very curious to see if this will get released in other colour ways as we get deeper into the season.
Sezane Jordyna Blouse | Encapsulating those pretty, feminine elements infused in so many pieces, is the Jordyna Blouse. I really love that this has a bit of a peek-a-boo effect with the broderie anglaise. The floral design reads quite elegant, and I like the combination with the Victorian collar and cinched sleeves. I especially love it in the mauve, as the floral embroidery really stands out. A solid “nice top” option. The Rym Shirt is a good alternative if you want more modesty but a similar feel.
Sezane Valerio Jacket | Sezane’s knitted jackets are my favourite. They feel hefty and luxurious to wear, and tend to be pared back in design. The Valerio Jacket feels a bit like a combination of the Betty Cardigan and Noe Jacket. Love that you can see the knitted rows (shows texture) and the tortoise buttons – iconic Sezane but also adds in an element of contrast. Comes in black and a stunning deep olive. This to me is a good option to wear in place of a sweater on days when it’s not quite cold enough to warrant knitwear + a coat, but just a sweater alone doesn’t cut it.
Sezane Linon Blouse | Classic silhouette, with a fun print. One of the best ways to add in a graphic printed piece to your wardrobe IMO, as it’s not overwhelmed with additional design details. It does look like there’s a little bit of pleating around the shoulders which adds to the way the fabric drapes, in addition to the yoke at the back of the blouse. This one is currently sitting in my cart. I’m imagining it worn with little mini skirts, tights and under the knee boots, or a swishy pair of trousers. Also would be cute to dress up denim shorts. It’s made from viscose so will have such a pretty drape!
Sezane Maha Sweater | Another knitwear piece from Sezane which I’d be willing to break my “no polyamide sweaters” rule for. The shape, stunning. Feminine, form-fitting, chic. A great basic base top, and the little eyelet trim around the neckline is very sweet. I really like the chestnut brown colour way it comes it as it looks to pull mostly neutral with a slight warm undertone. I find if you’re unsure about colour theory/what works best for you, opting for colours which sit around the centre of the spectrum are your best bet. Comes in a light ecru colour. The largely organic cotton/merino wool composition is selling this one for me. Also reminds me a little of a high end iteration from Khaite.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
I have a few other favourites to highlight from the Sezane Winter Collection. The Alicia skirt makes a return – this is a classic style we see coming back year on year (and one I’ve bought in the past!). This is in the same print as the Linon blouse. We also see a repeat of the Noemia – one of my fave styles from last year – back again in that same black and cream contrasting floral. With a folk touch that’s giving Isabel Marant, we have the Ewan jacket. A fun way to add in a statement piece, that’s grounded in a neutral colour palette. The Naelle skirt (and set) now comes in a rich chocolate hue. A really beautiful deep neutral – looks great with knee high boots! Final honourable mention is the Jerome coat. This is another minty piece, this time with a contrasting horizontal stripe. Tres chic!
Will you be buying anything from the Sezane Winter Collection?
