The festive season is well and truly underway, and if you’re anything like me, then you’re probably stressing out about the perfect gifts to buy for your loved ones. Today, I’m teaming up with eBay Australia to share my ultimate gift guide for Christmas – from beauty, to fashion and accessories, homewares and tech. Personally, I prefer to skip the crowds and do my Christmas shopping from the comfort of my own home, so I can avoid the stress and inevitable queues that you typically run into when shopping in-store this time of year!
I’ve been shopping on eBay for years; it’s the perfect one-stop-shop that I know will have me covered no matter what I’m looking for, whether it’s a new purchase to fulfill my fashion fix, or a Christmas gift for a loved one. And with 80 of Australia’s top 100 retailers featured on eBay.com.au, it’s pretty safe to say that you’re going to be spoilt for choice. So keep on reading for some of my top picks for gifts this Christmas…
FOR THE FASHION LOVER
The fashion world seems to have gone absolutely crazy for straw bags, and as we near the height of summer Down Under, I couldn’t think of a more perfect gift for the fashion lovers in your life. This half-moon shaped bamboo bag is absolutely gorgeous, and would be right at home paired with a cute linen dress for a garden party or drinks with the girls on a balmy summer evening.
If you’re after a gift that is a little more timeless in design, then it doesn’t get more classic than Daniel Wellington’s iconic ‘Sheffield’ watch. Personally I love the minimal and clean approach to the design, and it’s the kind of style that I think you can’t really go wrong with. If you want something a little jazzier, this gold option with metal straps is also a stunner.
FOR THE BEAUTY GURU
If you know someone who is a massive beauty lover at heart, then Christmas is the perfect time to pick them up something new to add to their vanity, given how many amazing limited edition sets are released at this time of the year, it’s also a great opportunity to #treatyourself with something special – personally I love the look of this OPI Holiday mini set!
Personally, I love the idea on splurging on a couple of beauty products that have reached cult status, like the NARS blush in ‘deep throat’, or giving the gift of a little luxury with a gorgeous scent from Tom Ford – ‘Black Orchid’ is an absolutely beautiful option that has a rich yet deep floral aroma, perfect for an evening out.
If you’re trying to track down a gift that isn’t quite a new beauty launch or an a Christmas gift set but that would still be perfect for the beauty lover in your life, you could also look at picking them up a really gorgeous set of makeup brushes (these from Casper & Lewis are beautiful), or an upgraded mirror for their vanity. Lighting is key when it comes to applying makeup, which is why I absolutely adore this matte black mirror – it has in-built LED lighting to ensure that your make up is always on point, and also comes in a rose gold version too which is a home decor dream!
FOR THE HOME
My absolutely favourite type of gift to give (and to receive!), is some beautiful home decor. I picked up this plush velvet cushion with gold zipper detail, and mongolian fur pillow from eBay, which I think would make a lovely combination in anyone’s living room – including our own!
Throughout the year, I also love to keep fresh flowers picked up from our local grocery or the flower markets. For the friend who loves a little bit of colour, the dainty indigo-hued vase with gold trim above from Hard to Find makes a real statement, and it would also be a real stunner as a centrepiece on your festive season table this Christmas.
FOR THE TECH WHIZ
Finally, I wanted to talk about tech, as usually it’s around Christmas that I start to think about splurging on those bigger ticket items for my loved ones, and eBay definitely has it all. One of the game-changing gadgets that we’ve recently brought home with us is the Google Home Mini. It might look pint-sized but it really packs a punch; from playing chilled out jazz tunes in the evening, to effortlessly setting reminders and a quick check of the weather forecast for the week ahead, we’ve barely only scratched the surface on what this portable assistant is capable of. Another Google gift I received recently was the new Google Pixel 2 phone; this phone has an absolutely incredible camera, which I’d say has completely upped my photo-taking game for on the go snaps.
You may be surprised to learn that during my teens, I was a major gaming junkie, and even now I still try to squeeze in a couple of hours a week to relax and play one of my favourite video games, so it’s little wonder that the latest RPG or adventure title would always be on my Christmas wishlist when I was younger. I’ll probably be looking to add Final Fantasy XV to my shopping cart for myself, but if you’re on the lookout, the EB Games store on eBay has a pretty incredible selection (The Sims is a classic you can’t go wrong with!).
Still within the tech space, I also think that a great pair of noise-cancelling headphones are also a great gift, and if you know of any aspiring photographers, I couldn’t think of a better time than the festive season to get your loved one started with a DSLR kit – this one from Canon is perfect for beginners!
