Happy Monday everyone! I thought I’d kick this week off by sharing a few things that have been influencing my personal style choices recently. I’ve been taking quite a bit of inspiration from Pinterest, especially as I start to analyse exactly what I’d like to get out of my wardrobe this year, and where I’d like to invest given I’m limiting myself to 20 key wardrobe additions. Mostly, I’ve been looking for the presence of styling elements, which are largely void during a Sydney summer – if I could wear my swimsuit all day every day until it cooled down, I probably would.

Something I’ve really been trying to explore – but in a subtle way – is colour. Not long ago I indicated that I wasn’t interested in trying to pursue the addition of colour to my wardrobe as a style challenge. But, I am finding that I’m drawn to an entirely new colour palette. I’m looking at rich browns, caramels, cognacs and warm toasty wheat hues, which feel like a nice complement to my existing wardrobe, and a perfect pairing with milky white tones. Autumn doesn’t kick off for another couple of months, but this is something that I see myself trying to carefully build into my existing closet through the five piece french wardrobe.

I thought I’d touch on denim silhouette quickly, as it’s a key part of my wardrobe, particularly on those cooler days. I’ve always been a skinny jean kind-of-gal, but after experimenting with a bit of winter layering over on my YT channel, I’ve developed a newfound appreciation for the straight leg jean. It’s just about the only thing I’ve been pinning lately; I love how they look with a tee, knit or shirt tucked in, worn with a low block heel or boot. It’s nonchalant and effortless, but I think it looks really pulled together.

You could say that maybe I’m already failing at my style resolutions for 2019, but I’m loving the recent surge in popularity around headbands, so much so that I decided to snap one up (this one in forest green if you were curious – and it’s on sale!). I’ve noticed that a lot of my style choices have become a bit more ‘tomboy’-ish. Simple tees and denim shorts for summer, an oversized knit with tapered trousers or straight leg jeans for winter. This is the absolute antithesis of that, especially in the luxe velvet and satin combos I’ve spotted, with the knot detail at the centre. I like that you could pair this with either of those looks and create a little bit of balance, while still being practical in the sense that your hair is being swept off your face!
