The festive season has begun, and safe to say that Christmas parties and holiday events are in full swing. I’ve always taken more of a low key approach to holiday dressing; typically opting to wear something already in my closet. But after two years of lockdown, the thought of dressing up feels exciting. And I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling this way.
Wearing Carla Zampatti Dress (sized up to an AU10); Sam Edelman heels; Polene numero onze bag; Linjer earrings; Mejuri bracelet; Monica Vinader bracelet (20% off with ‘JAMIELEE20’)
So for those of you still on the hunt for that “something special” to wear for an upcoming Christmas event, I’ve got you covered. To keep things simple, I went for one and done options; just add party shoes and a mini bag. From glitzy sparkly numbers perfect for dancing the night away or an NYE countdown, to more relaxed options which will do double duty for the weekend – there’s a little something for everyone.
GLITZY & GLAM
I thought I’d kick things off with the type of festive season dressing which is the most fun; glitzy and glam. Think sequins, feathers, flirty hemlines. Anything sparkly, goes.
OFFICE APPROPRIATE
Work cocktail events can be tricky; especially if your office has more of a strict or formal dress code. Covered shoulders and anything below the knee is generally the best bet, worn with a dazzling shoe or sparkly court if you want to inject some personality. I’ve picked out some of my favourites which run the gamut depending on the social settings.
BOLD & BRIGHT
For those who don’t shy away from colour, I wanted to pick out some of my favourite brights. Marigold seems to be the colour du jour right now, and I am all for it. It feels festive without being overtly so (like a vibrant red or luscious green would).
LAIDBACK & CHIC
Talk about getting bang for your buck… Festive season dressing doesn’t have to mean loud silhouettes or be over-the-top. These picks are for those more laidback and informal events; styles which you could easily rewear for brunch with friends depending on how you accessorise.
