I wanted to delve a little more festive season dressing, particularly as it’s around now that holiday events are really beginning to ramp up. I’ve teamed up with Everlane to share four different ideas on what to wear over the festive season, for four different events on the social calendar. I’ve given these all a bit more of a wintery bent – so will be perfect if you’re experiencing a white Christmas this year.

Wearing Everlane slip dress (I sized up to a US6), COS sheer turtleneck (love this one from Everlane), Babaton blazer (this blazer has the same look to it), Everlane editor heels, Oroton bag, Missoma earrings, Missoma bracelet, Muru Jewellery necklace, Chupi ring, Linjer watch

For the Work Event

I’m allll about outfits that can take you from desk to dinner, and never is this more true than getting dressed up for the festive work event. It’s here that a bold red lip will give you your biggest bang for your buck, especially if you work in a more conservative office environment.

The outfit above ties in a few key elements (keeping in mind I have a bump to smuggle at the moment!). I’ve gone for an office-friendly dress which worn without any layering, is super slinky; paired with stilettos, it’s a bombshell look (and perfect for wedding season too!). The slip dress has a bit of heft to it; the GoWeave fabric is is weighty and crease-resistant, plus I love the little sliver of leg exposed by the side slit.

I’ve layered it over the top of a thin knitted turtleneck. This keeps it feeling conservative, but you could easily slip this off if you wanted to show a bit more skin. On my feet are the editor heels. These are the ideal height for partying in all night long, plus the suede texture adds a nice element of dimension. Particularly if you’re into a head-to-toe monochromatic look like I am.

I topped this off with a black blazer – this oversized style from Everlane will give you the same look – which gives it that corporate feel, while also acting as an additional layer. Statement earrings were a must, and a bold red lip would the cherry on top for this outfit!

For the Girls Night Out

You could easily repurpose the slip dress for a girls night out; pairing it with a leather jacket and some mega high heels. Or, you could go with my favourite combo: a silky sleeveless top or cami, paired with some high rise skinny jeans, and some heels – these slingback pumps in the satin finish would be a divine choice. If it’s slightly cooler, this fitted square neckline top is a fun option. It has puff sleeves, and comes in a bright cherry red shade, in addition to some classic neutral options.

As an outer layer, I’d wear either the oversized wool blazer (I have the herringbone version and LOVE it), or the double breasted oversized style. Both are super chic but have an air of nonchalance to them, and would really finish off the look.

For the Long Lunch

Long lunches, or any kind of Christmas feast for that matter, are a time to seriously indulge. Comfort is king. What to wear would depend on the circumstances. For a dressier occasion, I’d opt for one of Everlane’s GoWeave wrap dresses. There’s a few different styles and hem lengths, and the adjustable tie means you can help yourself to a second serving and not feet constricted by what you’re wearing! You could pair this with the editor boots and tights if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, as well as one of their pima cotton mock neck tops for an additional layer. I feel like this look would also be gorgeous paired with a glitzy sequin shoe!

If the lunch is more on the relaxed end of the spectrum, I’d opt for more of a smart casual look. A roomy silk blouse like Everlane’s oversized silk blouse feels luxurious, and again, won’t constrict you if you feel like over-indulging. I’d pair this with the put-together pleated pants (can’t wait until I have a waist again to order these for myself!). I like that they sit higher up on the waist, and feel quite relaxed through the silhouette, while being “put together”, as their name would suggest. For shoes, I love the editor slingback flat; the cut across the vamp is really flattering and these have a leg lengthening effect. If you prefer a rounded toe, I’d go with the Day Gloves; these are ultra comfortable, particularly in the ReKnit style.

For the Christmas Dinner

Finally, I wanted to round things out with an outfit option for Christmas dinner. This is the final event on the festive season calendar, and usually the most relaxed too when it comes to dress code – unless you’re doing “Friend-mas” with ugly Christmas sweaters, that is!

The key to dressing for Christmas dinner is to look cute, but feel comfortable. Top of the list is this cashmere long sleeved mini dress. I just love this. It’s ultra chic, but so roomy through the body, that it’ll hide even the biggest food baby. I’ve got this in an M and it comfortably fits my bump, with room to spare – you can see me wearing it in my latest IGTV HERE. I’d throw this on with some thick wool tights, and some ankle boots – something like the boss boot or the western ankle boot would look amazing. Over the top, I’d throw on the re-wool overcoat, which is super heavy duty and will feel like being wrapped up in a huge blanket.

If you don’t want to go down the dress route, I’d opt for a sweater and jeans combo. Everlane’s alpaca sweaters are super cosy and have so much texture, and I’m also a big fan of the cashmere rib crew, which has a similar silhouette. For jeans, I can’t recommend the cheeky straight enough. The original style have a fair bit of give to them, so will relax over the course of the day (and your meal!). This outfit would be perfectly topped off with the reknit glove boots (which are currently on my wishlist – swoon!), or a pair of loafers.

So there you have it, four different outfit ideas for four different festive season events. I hope this gave you a little bit of inspiration in the run up to Christmas.

And a huge thanks again to Everlane for partnering with me on this post!
