Lockdown in NSW is over. There’s still some pretty heavy restrictions in place, but after three months of being stuck in our homes, we’re finally able to dine out, go shopping, and visit the gym.
So with that in mind, today I thought I’d share a quick rundown of five different activewear sets for well… getting “active”.
BODEN
First up is Boden. They launched activewear fairly recently (in the last 12 months or so), and their designs are as you’d expect; bold, punchy, and fun. I really like the quality of the fabrics, it’s thick and holds you in, plus I find the sports bras offer quite a bit of support as they fit close to the body. I’m wearing a size S/UK8 in both items here and almost could go up a size. Fits slightly on the smaller end of the spectrum. Washes very well.
GIRLFRIEND COLLECTIVE
This set – matching zip up sports bra and high waisted compression leggings – have been in my wardrobe for a good while now. My favourite elements are the fact that they’re made from recycled plastic bottles, and the brand is very size inclusive too.I love how high the rise is on the leggings, and these are soft and stretchy. Again, they hold you in really nicely. I wear a size S in both the sports bra and leggings and would say they fit true to size. Only thing to note about the black version is that it does pick up little bits of fluff (especially if you have a rag doll, like we do!). Also available here at Nordstrom.
RUNNING BARE
I have a few sets from Running Bare, and I really love the quality. Super soft with a nice plush hand feel, and quite stretchy. I like that they give ample support too. You can usually count on the brand to have some fun prints and colours, too, like this cocoa giraffe print. Wearing the sports bra, shorts and tank all in a size S; I do find that the sports bras run on the smaller side, so would recommend sizing up if you’re quite busty.
EVERLANE
The perform set from Everlane is probably the lightest of the lot. Paperweight thin, and ultra stretchy (I think at this point we could call this a bit of a theme…). These are incredibly comfortable, and I find the sizing quite forgiving. Again, I took an S in both the sports tank and leggings (ankle length). This is another set that is made with recycled materials; this time, recycled nylon. Love this! Only thing to note is I find sometimes when running in the perform leggings, the waistband will roll/curl up ever so slightly. Not a deal breaker for me though.
J.ING
The final activewear set I wanted to mention comes from J.ING, in this delightful lilac hue. These are the softest and also stretchiest of the bunch. The fabric has a bit of a sueded hand feel to it. I find that J.ING runs small, so I sized up to a medium in both the leggings and the sports bra. For reference, I am a true size AU8.
