Time for one of my regular Sezane wish lists… Weeks of rain seems to have reignited my excitement for A/W dressing, to the point where I’m not quite ready to tuck away my knitwear. And I have a couple of coats on standby, just in case. As usual, it was pretty hard to narrow down my picks; the entire Sezane A/W ’22 collection is right up my alley. Here are my five favourites…
Sezane Marc Coat
If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, it’s coat season. Arguably one of the best times of year to get dressed. Despite living in a warm climate, I can’t help but be drawn to coats. Love cold weather dressing, hate cold weather. I’m sure I’m not alone here. My coat pick of the season is the Sezane Marc Coat. This is tres chic; a classic belted style, in a striking houndstooth check. The composition is made up of recycled wool, virgin wool, and polyamide. I’m assuming the synthetic fibres are in there to strengthen the fabric, while also giving it a smoother hand feel; wool coats can sometimes have a scratchy, itchy quality to the touch. A houndstooth coat is a real statement. Also love the scarf in the same print which is a great way to add interest to an outfit without fully committing.
Sezane Adele Boots
I’ve had this sudden craving to add a pair of knee high, heeled boots to my closet. Perhaps it’s the exposure (as a boot style, they seem to be everywhere at the moment), but I love the idea of wearing them with midi skirts and longer dresses, or to give some extra warmth under a wider leg pant. Also cute with mini dresses and sheer tights. Love the Sezane Adele Boots as they feel like a classic take on this style of boot with a sartorial femininity to them. The side zip closure will make them easy to put on/off, while retaining a slimmer fit through the leg. My size is currently out of stock so I’m keeping these ones bookmarked (even if summer is just on the horizon here in Sydney…).
Sezane Charly Sweater
Forever in search of the good basics, and the Sezane Charly Sweater ticks all the boxes. It’s not too simple. Scalloped edging frames the collar, which has a subtle Edwardian element. The fabric is a merino and cotton blend; a composition I’ve had great success with from Sezane. And the fit looks good too. Slim but not cut too close to the body, though I imagine sizing down would give you a glove-like fit, especially if you wanted to wear this as a layering piece under dresses.
Sezane Diego Jumper
I don’t tend to bookmark too many sweaters from Sezane these days. I’ve learnt my lesson with their blended knits that contain polyamide. My experience laundering them has always been less than ideal. Think shrinkage, change in texture and the like. Plus I find they tend to have a bit of a synthetic feel. The Sezane Diego Jumper passes my litmus test of being made of natural fibres. It’s 100% merino wool, which I love. If it’s anything like the James Jumper (which I own in an olive green), then it’ll be a thick knit, plus soft too (and not itchy!). Usually I shy away from colour, but I love the orange red hue. It’d be the perfect antidote for any particularly moody weather!
Sezane Alicia Skirt
Last one on the list is the Sezane Alicia Skirt. I’ve ordered this style before, and can confirm that it’s great. A classic that the brand brings back season after season. Usually in new prints. My love of polka dots is undergoing a bit of a revival. Just like stripes, it’s one of the few prints I consider to be a “true” neutral. This style is in a viscose which has a nice, airy, silky quality to it. Gorgeous worn with knits, or styled up for a date night with a bralette, oversized blazer and strappy sandals.
What’s on your Sezane wishlist right now…?
