One of the things I love most about autumn and winter, is the opportunity to layer. Have fun with your style, and express yourself in ways that during an Australian summer – where all you want to wear is a crop top and denim shorts – aren’t particularly feasible; unless you feel like melting every time you go outdoors, that is.
Arket merino roll neck knit (this one is the same + more readily available); Toteme jeans; Andersons belt; Tibi sandals (old)
It starts with a good base, or foundation. Something that I can switch up with ease, depending on my mood, the vibe I’m after, or the colour palette I feel like wearing that day. This is the perfect base for adding in a third piece; perhaps an oversized blazer or a utility jacket. A long wool coat, even. I try and hang on to knitwear and sandals weather for as long as possible, but in lieu of an open-toed shoe, a Chelsea boot with a high shaft would look equally chic here. I could throw on a big oversized knit, perhaps even a “double knit” situation where I’ve draped a second knit over the shoulders like a scarf.
Monochrome isn’t key either. It’s knowing which pieces in your closet you feel best in, despite their simplicity. And going from there.
