It’s been two weeks since we moved into our new home, and it feels like we’ve finally started to make progress on our renovations. Not including the wardrobe in the small spare room – which needs to be re-installed – our three bedrooms have been prepped, primed and painted. The walls in the open plan living space and study have been given a fresh lick of paint, and we’re halfway through planning the changes to our bathroom. Essentially, it’s finally starting to feel like our home, and it means that I can start to focus on the fun part: updating our home décor. So today I’ve teamed up with Desenio to share how I have been updating our space.
As part of the collaboration, Desenio have given me a 25% off discount code which is valid from today (5th June) to Thursday 7th June, should a couple of prints take your fancy, using the code ‘mademoiselle2018’. You can snap up this discount on everything except for frames and posters in the ‘handpicked/collaboration’ section.
The main focus for our home décor has been to add accents throughout the house with the use of pillows, throws, personal photographs, and posters & prints. It’s part of the reason why we’ve opted to go for crisp white walls rather than commit to a colour – it opens up the opportunity to play around and transform each space just through the use of decorative items, plus I love how effortlessly you can mix things up as your mood or preferences evolve. Not to mention, it’s also an inexpensive way to give your home a complete refresh.
Perhaps the biggest inspiration for our new home has been a Californian/Scandinavian influence; I love clean, white, airy spaces that are injected with warmth through plants, earthy accents and botanical prints.
In our smaller spare room – which is likely to become a bit of an overflow closet, for now – I’ve popped ‘Palm Trees on Beach 30×40’ up on the wall, next to my standing rack. It’s amazing how effective a simple print on the wall can be, but it’s really helped to liven up the space and make it feel a little more complete (let’s just forget that there’s currently buckets of paint where the wardrobe should be…).
Then in our larger spare bedroom, I’ve opted for a trio of soft florals, to create a really calming space. As much as I love pink home décor, it’s hard to convince Luke that a pink sofa is a brilliant idea, so this is my favourite way of adding that feminine hue into our house. I’ve opted for ‘Poppy Shape 21×30’, ‘Pink Tulipe No3 30×40’, and ‘Bed of Flowers 30×40′ in a couple of various sizes, and to add to the mixed media feel, I’ve opted to put each print in a different type of frame. It’s such a pretty update to the vanity, and these have to be a couple of my favourite prints in the house.
Finally for my study, I wanted something a little earthier; it has to be a functional space but I also wanted to keep that connection to the outdoors – it’s something I’d like to eventually incorporate throughout our whole house. I just loved the combination of the two botanical prints, which I’ve leant against the wall, just to the left of my computer. My gaze tends to naturally drift in that direction, and it makes for a really calming distraction – especially when I’m trying to meet deadlines or quickly rush through a video edit before heading to the office for my day job! To the far left, is ‘Cactus 30×40’ (which would also look great in the 50×70 size), beside it is ‘Monstera B&W 30×40’, then laying on my desk is ‘Abstract Nudes No1 21×30’.
Don’t forget that you can get 25% off your order (except for frames and posters from the ‘handpicked/collaboration’ section) using the code ‘mademoiselle2018’
Thank you to Desenio for partnering with me on this post.
Loving all those prints! The three pink florals are lovely! I’m not normally a big pink person but I really like them!

You know, Luke isn’t a pink person either but he didn’t mind them either (I know – I was pretty surprised!). They’re so pretty and I like that as they’re so affordable, if you get tired of the style you can easily switch it to something else x
Fabulous print choices…love seeing glimpses of your new home too.

Thank you Lisa! I’m hoping to do a homewares video on my YT channel too once our place is starting to look a little more polished so that’ll give a pretty good peek at our place
