Items I Own on Sale 2024: Clothing Edition

Items I own on Sale featuring DUNST Houndstooth daddy blazer

I’m back with part two of my “Items I own on sale” series; today, chatting through clothing items I’d happily add to my wardrobe again. Part one highlighted the jewellery, bags and shoes I own on sale which if you missed it, you can read it HERE. I’ve also shared reviews of the beauty products I have on rotation HERE.

Separated out into core categories, you’ll find my key favourites across denim, knitwear and outerwear first, before I move into some of the other much loved pieces in my closet. If you’d like to get a better look at any of these items, I’ve embedded the companion YouTube video at the bottom of this post.

Let’s get cracking!

[PS. the houndstooth blazer I’m wearing from DUNST above is also on sale, too!]

Re Done High Rise Loose jeans
Hey Joanie jeans review

DENIM/TROUSERS

Re/Done High Rise Loose | My first introduction to Re/Done denim was back in 2015 (or there abouts); a slim fitting reworked jean that I wore at least 1-2 times every week. Those jeans held up impeccably well and looked phenomenal on, so if it weren’t for the fact that I’ve gone up a jean size, I’d probably still have them on rotation today. So to the point… the 90s High Rise Loose. A great semi-high rise style with a relaxed fit through the hip and thigh; straight through the leg. The kind of jeans that will garner many compliments. Fits true to size for that semi-slouchy lived in look that gets instant polish from the addition of a belt. These have a generous inseam so if you’re shorter you’ll need to get them taken up (ask to keep the original hem!).

Hey Joanie | For the girls who are petite, you may like to check out Hey Joanie. A denim brand designed first and foremost for women 5’5” and under, but who also offer regular/tall inseam options on their denim too. And it’s good quality. 100% cotton, with that slightly washed, lived in feel to the touch. Stick with your true size for a relaxed fit. Size down for a close fit.

Everlane way high jeans
Everlane barrel leg jeans
Everlane a line denim shorts

Everlane jeans | As a whole, Everlane’s denim ranks up there as some of my favourites. I recommend the way high style all the time, which is a great classic (fits 1 size large). If you’re after a more interesting silhouette, this barrel leg jean is also excellent. I wear the long inseam option. Final denim recommendation from Everlane are the a-line denim shorts. I probably sound like a broken record at this point but these shorts will never stop being really, really good.

H&M high and straight jeans
COS drawstring waist jeans

H&M jeans | I’m fairly certain these are essentially an affordable alternative to the Valentina jeans from Henne, but irrespective of that, H&M denim is actually very good (inconsistent sizing aside). 100% cotton, nice button fly, well fitted. Basically another pair of jeans on the list that will get compliments every single time.

COS jeans | The best kind of jeans if you tend to fluctuate between sizes is any style like these; drawstring waist to cinch, with a generous cut across the hip and through the leg. Basically anything cut like these jeans from Citizens of Humanity

Jenni Kayne cotton cashmere sweater
LILYSILK cable knit sweater

KNITWEAR

Jenni Kayne cashmere wool knit | The Black Friday sale that I sit in anticipation of every year is Jenni Kayne. While I do find a lot of the brand’s knitwear a little on the expensive side (you can often find affordable alternatives at Quince), Jenni is a master at designing knitwear that embodies that California-cool, laid back vibe. Of all the knitwear I’ve tried from the brand, it’s this cotton-cashmere blend knit that I keep coming back to. Perfectly slouchy, and less prone to pilling than a 100% cashmere knit would be.

LILYSILK cable knit sweater | Perhaps more known for their silk shirts and bedding, if you haven’t taken a peek at LILYSILK’s knitwear offering, I recommend you do. Most styles tend to fit more oversized (pay attention to the fit model as a reference), but it’s the yarn texture that really blew me away. It’s made from baby cashmere; cashmere which has been combed from the coat of a goat kid (less than 12 months old). This process is only done once, and it produces the lightest, fluffiest cashmere knits.

La Saison Sportive Serena cardigan
La Saison Sportive Serena cardigan
Tradlands shelter knit

La Saison Sportive cardigan | Think beautiful, 100% NZ merino wool fine knit sweaters which are truly just as luxurious as they sound. The Nell Oversized Sweater is still a firm favourite, though if you’d like something more fitted, the Serena cardigan is a stand out. The little mother of pearl buttons add a refined touch.

Tradlands shelter knit | For an ultra soft 100% cotton knit, I don’t think you can go wrong with the shelter knit from Tradlands. This is cut slightly boxy through the body, with long slouchy sleeves that really dial up the comfort level on this knit. There’s a few different stripe options as well as block colours, but this is one of their key styles for good reason. Well cut, and exceptional quality. Code JAMIELEE30 will get you a further 30% off the listed price.

Whistles bonded leather jacket
Kuho Plus shearling jacket

COATS & JACKETS

Whistles leather jacket | A rather spendy purchase at full price, this was one of those items I found myself slowly considering over the course of a year. And if you want a more in-depth review, there’s a full run down HERE. But TLDR; buttery soft – quality – leather combined with a chic relaxed fit. If you’ve coveted it anywhere near as long as I did, do yourself a favour and snag it on sale.

Kuho Plus Jacket | A chic, fuzzy, cosy shearling style jacket with statement toggles to fasten. This feels really plush and soft, and I can’t help but be thrilled with the slightly longer length through the body, which falls just below my widest point. It’s lined too. The choc brown is a great neutral option that is very wearable.

Everlane October coat

Everlane coat | In all my reviews over the years, Everlane’s outerwear always comes out on top. My pick from my closet for the season is this shorter collarless design. It’s minimal in its design, the shorter length makes it a good option for slightly milder climates, and I appreciate how it almost looks like two different coats when worn open vs. when fastened.

Kindersalmon trench coat
Fabrique wool coat

Kindersalmon trench coat | Aside from the Sezane Clyde Trench (which I get messages about every time I wear it), this is probably my most frequently queried jacket. The silhouette has a slightly sculpted effect to it which is a huge part of the draw, the fabrication has a robust quality to it, thick, and sturdy. All round, a good trench.

Fabrique wool coat | Designed by Sebastien Meunier, who has worked for the likes from Ann Demeulemeester and Mugler, this coat is utter perfection. Simplicity personified, with nice clean lines but cut well. The pockets are elongated and sit low, a design detail that feels unexpected yet intentional. This is one of the more luxurious feeling coats that I have; made from a wool and alpaca blend. I own a few things from Fabrique now, and one of my other favourite jackets is this little tweedy one. The execution feels a step above, especially when combined with the relaxed fit. Use code ‘ToJamie60’ to save $60 on $500, code ‘ToJamie150’ to save $150 on $1000, and code ‘ToJamie240’ to save $240 on $1500

lululemon activewear review

ACTIVEWEAR

lululemon | So many lululemon goodies included in the sale, but stand outs for me include the Wundermost tank (double layered crushed Nulu, this is beyond soft), the Align leggings and shorts (deserve all the hype they get), and the Scuba oversized half zip.

STAX | My other go-to for activewear, their premium seamless line is incredible. Feels supportive yet nice and stretchy, and washes well too. I treated myself to the bralette and bike shorts from this line last week when I visited their new CBD flagship store. SO comfy! Up to 70% off, too.

ONTE Rocio dress review

OTHER CLOTHING ITEMS

ONTE Rocio dress | I’m not usually one for a drop waisted style, but this dress is unbelievably chic. The type of style that looks like you’ve put in effort, when it’s an easy one-and-done piece. The bodice is super snatched and fitted, while the skirt has a bit of movement to it, and I like that contrast as it adds visual interest.

Grana mini skirt | Cute a-line design with a slightly utilitarian aesthetic. This is a brushed cotton so adds in a tactile quality to outfits, and the 100% cotton composition makes this a very low effort piece to maintain. A good elevated classic. The code MADEMOISELLEJAIME might stack an additional saving on top (always worth a try!).

Shona Joy twisted tee
Sportscarft knit tank and denim Bermuda shorts Black Friday sale picks

Shona Joy twisted tee | The basic that doesn’t really feel like a basic at all. I’ve noticed that perhaps it’s something of a trend, these tees with a twisted element to them. This execution is one of my personal favourites. The tee runs long, creating this nice sleek line which extends down the leg when worn with a tonal bottom. Then the high point of the twist adds some definitely to the waist, by visually drawing the eye’s attention.

Sportscraft knit tank & denim Bermuda shorts | There’s 25% off sitewide at Sportscraft so popping these two together here. I wore these last week to celebrate the brand’s 110th birthday, reaching for the knit tank twice in less than a week which immediately tells me an item is going to end up on heavy rotation. The knitted tank is tightly woven but soft, not sheer (at least not with a skin-toned bra), and the scoop neck reveals just the right amount of skin. This fits that definition of elevated basic to me because the knitted fabrication elevates and refines. Then the denim Bermuda shorts are just chef’s kiss. Cut so well, and the denim is sturdy but soft in the hand.

Facade Pattern round trousers
Atmos & Here linen vest
DISSH Zendaya trousers

Facade Pattern trousers | I almost wasn’t going to mention these, but as is annual tradition, I thought it might be rude not to remind you how great these trousers are. So much so, that I own three pairs (and contemplating a fourth…). I have both the wool and cotton pairs. The wool isn’t scratchy but a worsted wool that feels weighty. The cotton version is almost starchy in a way, that helps the trouser to retain its signature shape. Cannot go wrong.

Atmos & here vest | One of a handful of tops I see myself wearing on repeat this summer. There are so many good vests to choose from these days (the trend that keeps giving – I’m so here for it), but what I like about this one from A&H is the thick straps and square neckline, tie back detail to cinch at the waist, and slightly longline silhouette.

DISSH choc brown trousers | Shaping up to replace my rowan pants as one of my most worn of the year, I’m slightly surprised by how easy it’s felt to reach for these pants. Chocolate brown in general is a great neutral that feels richer, warmer, and lower contrast than black; perhaps why I’m so drawn to it. While I do think that there are some tailoring elements that could be improved (the zipper on mine pulls ever so slightly), I can’t complain for the price. I’ve ordered a few different choc browns from DISSH and this is the best iteration (IMO) that doesn’t pull too purple; instead firmly neutral. The fluid drape cut of the trouser is incredibly flattering, and adds polish even when wearing a very casual outfit.

Papinelle X Karen Walker pyjamas
Cozy Earth Pyjamas

PYJAMAS

No formal Christmas gift guide from me this year, but if I was to recommend anything, a luxurious pair of pyjamas would be up there as one of my top recommendations. The key to nailing Christmas gifting? Buy a more elevated version of a thing they already love and use.

Papinelle | I’ve been slowly upgrading my pyjama rotation with chic sets from Papinelle, with the most recent addition being this striped cotton seersucker delight from their collaboration with Karen Walker (I look forward to these every year!). Truly some of the best, most luxurious pyjamas which hold up well over time. My favourites tend to be the textured cotton pairs as they’re lightweight and breathable while still having a sense of visual interest.

Cozy Earth | If you’re after the softest pyjamas you’ll ever touch, then you need to try Cozy Earth. I’m also a big fan of their ribbed loungewear. The cuddle blanket is also incredible but be prepared to have fights over who gets to use it! Use code CE-MADEMOISELLE for 40% off.
