It’s no secret that I have a lot of love for D2C brand Quince. When I first came across Quince, they were actually called “Last Brand”; as in, the last brand you’ll ever need. Cute. Their $50 Cashmere Sweater being the *thing* that drew me in, and clearly, I’ve stayed for the ride. What appeals to me is their value proposition; quality wardrobe staples at a reasonable price point. So it’s perhaps not surprising that Quince rarely ever goes on sale (and I suspect on the few occasions that they do, their margins are very tight). At this point, I’ve tried hundreds of items from Quince. Both as a customer, and as someone who has done some work with the brand. So I wanted to highlight the items that I’d recommend buying for winter. Sizing notes and actual measurements, included! If you’re curious about any of my other prior recs, you can read this blog post here.
Quince $50 Cashmere Crew | It makes sense to start at the very beginning, with the most classic piece you can buy from the brand. The one that has sparked a lot of conversation online around the pricing. I’ve actually done an entire battle of the cashmere on my YT channel, which you can watch HERE. If you scroll down to the bottom of each product page, you can actually see Quince’s transparent pricing, which has the total cost at $45.01; not counting other overhead costs like staffing, office rental, marketing etc. So that makes me think that this must be a loss leader, meaning they’re making a loss in lieu of customer acquisition. Very clever marketing as it acts as an example and first touch point in many cases of the type of quality you can expect. This was my top pick in terms of quality and value for money in that cashmere review (which I spent a good 18+ months researching, FYI), and that still stands today. It’s comparable to a UNIQLO cashmere knit but a fraction of the price, and at this point I really only have good things to say about Quince cashmere across the board. Please excuse the essay here but this is a total winner.
Fits true to size. I wear size S. Measures 49cm underarm to underarm and is 58cm long
Quince Oversized Boyfriend Sweater | This is one of my all time favourite Quince sweaters. It’s Good with a capital ‘G’. This is more plush than the $50 cashmere knit, and has that relaxed, borrowed from the boyfriend fit. I have this in a few colours now, and no surprises that it’s popped up as one of my most worn for A/W. Washes really well, coming out like new. With any cashmere knits, I do recommend investing in a cashmere comb to comb out any loose fibres when you start to notice minor pilling.
Fits true to size for a relaxed fit. Petites may like to size down. I wear size S. Measures 61cm underarm to underarm and is 61cm long.
Quince Merino Wool Scarf Coat | Quince is probably best known for their more affordable alternatives to viral classics. Case in point, this stunning scarf coat is a dead ringer for the Toteme version (but a fraction of the price). I wasn’t expecting to like this as much as I do. The shape is nice, it feels really high end in terms of the silhouette and the boxy fit. The merino wool is stunning. Super soft and plush, reminiscent of the tactile quality of my wool and cashmere blend coats. My only gripe is that I wish the scarf was a little longer, as it sometimes slips off the shoulder. Otherwise this is perfection. The crochet trim is a nice accent, too!
Fits true to size but note it is a boxy fit. I wear size S. Measures 60cm underarm to underarm and is 77cm long.
Quince Italian Wool coat | If you prefer more of a classic silhouette, Quince also have some sharp tailored options too. This is 80% Italian Wool and 20% Nylon, and I think given the price point that is good value. It’s rare to find wool coats under $200 (Quince is literally the only place I’ve found any at full price!). This has a felted finish, so isn’t as soft as their 100% merino coats. If you wanted something comparable, I would try this one here (which is just a little more expensive). This is lined and will keep you feeling really warm. The cut is done well, slim fitting through the sleeves so while you can wear a knit with this, it won’t fit something super chunky under.
Fits true to size. I wear size S. Measures 47cm underarm to underarm and is 107cm long.
Quince Italian Wool Trousers | Probably one of my favourite recent finds. These have an elasticated waist back which makes them feel incredibly comfortable to wear because they’ve got that give. If you are someone who bloats like myself, these are a sleek trouser you can wear that won’t dig in. I like that the front has that polished look. They’re 99% Italian wool and 1% spandex, which means they have some give to them. Sizing is relatively true to size but on the more generous end of the spectrum, as I don’t think the US2 would have fit me as well. Love a trouser like this that can take you through many different settings too (work, play, dinner date, travel etc).
Generously cut but stick true to size. I wear size US4. Measures 36.5cm across waistband laid flat (unstretched), rise is 33cm and inseam is 73cm.
Quince Silk Twill Trousers | Giving off a similar vibe to the previous pair, I also adore these silk twill trousers, which I have in the hot fudge shade. The drape is absolutely beautiful, very fluid on the body and the twill catches the light brilliantly. These are a similar cut to the previous pair but perhaps a little wider through the leg, and run large. The interior has a secondary hidden button so that the waistband lays flat which I appreciate. There’s also a matching shirt – a gorgeous combo if you love tonal dressing.
Fits a full size large. I wear the US4 which works but the US2 would have been better. Measures 38cm across waistband laid flat (unstretched), rise is 30cm and inseam is 76cm.
Quince Cashmere Ribbed Wrap | One of those items that would make a fabulous gift. This is an oversized ribbed scarf, the ultimate multi-tasker. I recently took this with me travelling, and the reason why is because in addition to being able to wear it multiple ways, the thickness works well as a plush pillow to rest on in transit, or as a blanket when it gets cold.
Quince Cashmere Cap | Another great Christmas gift or stocking stuffer would be one of these cashmere caps. Luxurious because of the cashmere, and the fluffy faux shearling feels intentional. Design done well. The adjustable strap is in leather too which brings in another texture. The soft texture feels lower contrast for this style than your typical twill which can make for really interesting styling.
Quince Yak Wool Crew Neck | If you haven’t tried Yak wool knit sweaters yet, let Quince tempt you. As these are so beautiful. This feels soft, similar to their cashmere but with a little more texture of a traditional lambswool (not itchy, though). And it’s got guts, doesn’t its feel thin. Fluffy to the touch rather than smooth on the hand. Comparatively I recently tried the yak knit sweaters from Sezane and I’d go for these any day. Love the mottled neutrals as the colours have a lot of depth to them. Traditional relaxed fit.
Fits true to size, but I’ve gone up one for a relaxed look. Wearing the size M. Measures 52cm underarm to underarm and is 61cm long.
Quince Yak Wool Roll Neck Sweater | There’s a few pieces in their yak range, and the other one I’ve tried is the roll neck sweater. All the same qualities as the previous knit but you can see here how the standard size S fits on me. In my opinion this is a good alternative to cashmere that is at a slightly lower price point, which still has that sense of luxury to it. Another point to mention about yak wool is that it is the highest performing wool. Think of it as a supercharged version of merino wool – the same weight of knit in a yak wool will keep you warmer than a merino knit.
Fits true to size. I’m wearing the size S. Measures 52cm underarm to underarm and is 59cm long.
Quince Packable Down Puffer Jacket | For the winter holidays this is another one of those items that would make a great gift. It’s quite slim (yet puffy), and layers well under thicker coats, adding that additional barrier of warmth. Because it’s so squishy, you can easily squeeze this into your suitcase which is handy if you’re headed to a very cold destination. My favourite detail is the hood, which is elongated and gives you nice coverage over the face, helping to retain heat. Also has a handy two-way zip.
Fits true to size. I’m wearing size S. Measures 51cm underarm to underarm and is 63cm long.
Quince Merino Wool Half Zip | I think at this point we can all just concede that Quince does knitwear extremely well. Especially when you consider the price point. This is so soft and plush, and I’d say for ply it feels like two of their $50 cashmere knits layered. Not at all itchy. What I love is how they’ve designed the collar, as it looks lovely both worn fully zipped, and worn open with the collar splayed. This is rather slouchy compared to some of the other sweaters I’ve shared in this post – if you prefer more of a traditional fit size down.
Recommend sizing down for petites as this is quite relaxed. I wear size S. Measures 53cm underarm to underarm and is 58cm long.
Quince Oversized Cashmere Cardigan | I’ve reviewed this cardigan before, and done a side by side next to the Jenni Kayne original, and I was floored. This is cut exactly the same, and the only discrepancy I could pick up is that it’s slightly thinner, and not quite as plush. If you’re on a budget and after this look, I don’t think you’d be able to tell the difference as it’s marginal (especially when you consider that this is 1/4 of the price!). And at the end of the day, both of them are going to pill. I highly recommend using a cashmere comb over a fabric shaver for maintenance, as this will allow you to comb out the shorter hairs and mean less work over time compared to a fabric shaver which is just cutting the fibers off the surface.
Fits true to size for a boyfriend fit. I recommend sizing down for petites. I’m wearing size S. Measures 66cm underarm to underarm and is 74cm long.
Quince Leather Bucket Bag | There’s a specific style of leather that Quince does very well. It feels luxe, and to me is a stand out compared to their smooth/calf leather bags. It has this pebbled effect to it, which almost looks glossy when catching the light. A completed underrated style (IMO) is this triple compartment bucket bag. A great size and a style you could use both for work and for the weekend, though note it won’t fit a laptop. This has a twill lining, and great compartmental organisation in the interior (seriously rivals my beloved Saben bags). The handle is quite generous so it fits over the shoulder, but does also come with an add on crossbody strap.
Quince Mini Crescent Shoulder Bag | In the exact same leather as the previous bag, this cute 90s style minimal shoulder bag. Love the shape, the buckle detail you can use to adjust the strap. Only niggle I’d mention is that the zipper on mine is not smooth – it has more of a bubbled appearance. This doesn’t affect opening/closing the bag and aesthetically isn’t a big focal element so I’m not too bothered given the price point but worth mentioning as I appreciate this might be a deal breaker for some. Good size that fits the essentials.
Quince Suede Crossbody Bag | Final bag I wanted to highlight is this suede crossbody bag. A “mini” lookalike of my beloved Madewell bucket tote which I wear often. Execution is excellent. Beige twill lining on the interior feels premium, plus you have a nice little zip up pocket which I always appreciate as I like to pop keys/lip balm etc in there. The actual bag also has a zip top closure for keeping belongings secure. Strap is adjustable. Suede is not silky but also not rough. Nicely textured so I would say sits somewhere in the middle. I just wish they’d come out with this in a black.
Quince Faux Fur Hooded Jacket | Another one of those items that I really wasn’t anticipating that I would like as much as I do. It’s designed to resemble a mink fur jacket, so you can see the way that the faux fur lays with the horizontal depression line. Unbelievably soft, this feels very luxurious to wear. Again just like with the packable down jacket, it has a nice elongated hood. Details like this feel like the design was considered and taken the whole way. No design by halves here. Also has pockets at the hip too and is fully lined in satin. The only thing I can think to point out is that it fastens with thick popper closures. I was being overly cautious when I first tried this on but they’re actually very well secured to the jacket. Very flattering on and a nice length through the body too. A great jacket to have on seasonal rotation especially if you live somewhere cool as it’ll add such a great tactile quality to your outfit.
Fits true to size. I’m wearing size S. Measures 57cm underarm to underarm and is 64cm long.
Quince Washable Silk Midi Dress | I love Quince’s washable silk line (the 100% silk pieces). As someone who loves silk but finds some a little too precious for daily life with two kids, this basically means I can have my cake and eat it too. The silk midi dress is cut on the bias, so has a beautiful flattering shape on the body; the skirt kicks out ever so slightly. I have heard some people say they feel the silk is thin but I think it’s comparable to other more expensive brands I have (like Lilysilk).
Fits true to size for a slim but not fitted look – this doesn’t have any give so wouldn’t recommend sizing down. Wearing size S. Measures 35cm underarm to underarm, 38cm across the waist and is 133cm long.
Quince Washable Silk Maxi Skirt | My favourite of all my washable silk pieces and I get asked where these skirts are from any time I wear them. The cut is beautiful how the hemline swishes around as you walk. Has an elasticated waist band which is thick and flexible. I have a little bit of room at the waist but I prefer this over it being too small.
Slightly generously cut so you could size down but I have stuck with my usual size. Wearing size S. Measures 36.5cm across the waistband laid flat (unstretched) and is 105cm long.
Quince Washable Silk Mini Skirt | Final one to highlight is the silk mini. For the skirts, is the minis and the maxis for me as they feel like there’s a real commitment to the length. The cut is a little flippy a-line sort of style which is very flattering on. The waistband on the mini is a little more fitted than the maxi so calling that out here.
Fits true to size. Wearing size S. Measures 36cm across waistband laid flat and 45cm long.
Quince Leather Stand Collar Jacket | I’ve tried a few leather jackets from Quince and across the board they’re beautiful, but what’s interesting is that they all use different leathers. Naturally this does mean that some feel more luxurious than others, but all are beautiful and excellent value for money. This stand collar jacket reminds me of something Rachel Green mind have worn; it has that 90s style fit, high neckline, and a slim – but not tight – fit which mimics the curves of the body. Soft and smooth, and has the added interest of the visible stitching on the shoulders.
Fits true to size. I wear size S. Measures 46cm underarm to underarm and is 58cm long.
Quince Crop Zip Up Jacket | This is a good example of the difference in leather as this feels so beyond buttery on the hand. Very very soft leather, which almost feels like running your hand over liquid leather… I can’t quite think of any other way to describe it. This is a cropped style that has a smooth zipper and pointed collar. I do find the pockets a little awkward where they sit as I’m long waisted but they’re functional and don’t distract from the clean silhouette of the jacket.
Fits true to size. Wearing size S. Measures 49cm underarm to underarm and is 54cm long.
Quince Leather Trench | For something that is office worthy, I’d point to the leather trench (there’s also an extended length version).
then we have the leather trench and this is a really nice shine to it I would say that it feels really nice and smooth but it doesn’t quite have that same buttery softness as the previous two that I shared this is a really good length and it feels quite modern yet still classic at the same time all of these jackets do fit true to size I’m wearing this one in a size small this is another really good one that I think is beautiful if you’re looking for a leather jacket option that you can wear for the office
Fits true to size. I wear size S. Measures 48cm underarm to underarm and is 102cm long.
Quince High Rise Jeans | I was so excited when I saw that Quince had launched denim. And the first run sold out fast so I get the sense that you have to get in quick. A caveat; my personal denim preference is either 100% cotton, or something with 1% elastane. I like a thick, hefty denim with guts. Mostly as I like the sturdiness to them. Quince’s jeans are a blend, with a focus more so on comfort, which they deliver on. It has a soft finish that is not too thick; gives off the appearance of wearing a jean but in some ways feels like wearing a more sturdy legging. You can really move around in these, so they’re a perfect choice for something who is a new mum/has young children, or wants to level up their casual outfits from activewear. These are billed as a high rise but I would call them more of a mid rise based on today’s standards. There’s two inseam options which is great, and hopefully this will expand in the future.
Fits true to size for a snug but not tight fit. I wear size 26 with 30 inch inseam. 35cm across waistband laid flat, 26cm rise, 46cm across the hip and 76cm inseam.
Quince Cashmere Lined Leather Gloves | Another chic little accessory, this time with a detail that’s hidden to the naked eye. I mean really, is there anything more luxurious than a glove with cashmere lining? The leather is buttery and soft, in a medium weight so will be a little stiff to start but soften up as you wear them. Good little gift to give someone for Christmas too!
I’m wearing size S and these fit snug on me; I have longer fingers so wish I’d gone with an M. I recommend referring to the size guide.
Quince Ribbed Sleeveless Midi Dress | The second I spied this dress in the new arrivals section, I immediately thought, that reminds me a lot of DISSH. But, if you were to look at the fabric composition, you’d find that the Quince one is better as it’s a cotton-cashmere blend. This has a soft, thick knitted feel on the hand, and that beautiful texture which instantly adds depth to your outfit. There’s a lot of stretch to this piece so it’s incredibly forgiving; the type of item you could buy now wear now, but also wear throughout a pregnancy too. A good solid option for the office too worn with a blazer.
Fits true to size, I wear size S. Note that I’ve provided both unstretched and full stretched measurements, as laid flat. Measures 31cm across the bust unstretched or 52cm stretched, 24cm across the waist unstretched or 49cm stretched, 33cm across the hip unstretched or 60cm stretched, and is 133cm long.
Quince Cotton Poplin Shirt | Wrapping up this extensive Quince review with the final item, a simple cotton poplin shirt. I’ve tried my fair share of cotton poplin shirts. From high street affordable options, to high end that will set you back $500+ and this has to be one of my favourites. The quality of the cotton poplin is beautiful not too thin, not too thick. It has a slightly crisp quality that is not starchy at all but does add shape. This is the type of shirt that will give you a lot of mileage for your money if you go up one or two sizes to get more of a relaxed fit. As you can easily wear that for work, but then it looks equally chic worn as a beach cover up or as a transitional weight jacket on those hot days in the summertime. Also great for layering too if you like having the hemline peeking out the bottom of your sweater. I would traditionally be a small but went up to a large in this shirt. Comes in lots of great basic colours.
Does fit true to size but go up one or two for a relaxed fit. I wear size L. Measures 58cm underarm to underarm and is 77cm long (at back – 2cm shorter in front).
