Back to regular programming, and today I wanted to talk beauty. More specifically, all about the Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection for 2022. I was sent the full range around six weeks ago, and have been playing around with it ever since. The clincher for me, is the concept behind RoseGlow. Colours which are designed to adapt to every skin tone. Interesting. The micas used in each product are demi-transparent and self-adjusting. Basically, you should be able to find your perfect match regardless of how light, or how deep your skin tone is.
Laura Mercier RoseGlow Highlighting Powder
First product I want to focus on from the Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection is the Highlighting Powder. This is in the shade ‘Rose Glow’. This is a slightly cool toned pink, and when swatched or applied on the skin, gives off this glossy finish which both gold and silver mica particles. If you go in heavy, this looks wet on the skin. A real triumph given that it’s actually a powder product, and I think that speaks to how finely milled the powder is. It builds beautifully on the skin without having a cake appearance. And I can see how this could work even on deep skin tones. With a light tan, it adds a sheen which picks up the light nicely. I was prepared to be cynical about this one, but turns out it’s a total hit.
Laura Mercier RoseGlow Blush Colour Infusion
In the same velvety finish, are the Blush Colour Infusions, which come in three colours. All That Sparkles, which is a pale petal pink; Peach Shimmer, which is a pale apricot peach; and Very Berry, which is a rich plummy pink hue. Aside from Very Berry, which is quite richly pigmented on my complexion, I find the other two shades to give more of a watercolour blush effect, with luminosity to it. You can probably see from the swatches above just how subtle the colour is. The sheen gives this lit from within glow which looks beautiful; best worn layered as a topper over a more pigmented blush. Again, the actual powders feel smooth and silky to the touch, and blend out well. There are small mica flecks throughout the powders so those reflects will translate on the cheeks.
Laure Mercier RoseGlow Sheer Lipstick
Final product in this year’s Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection are the Sheer Lipsticks. I’m a big fan of those balmy, creamy, ever-so-slightly pigmented lip products which have this soft, diffused look on the lips. That bitten, just kissed effect. While there’s a time and a place for a precisely applied bold red, I want something low maintenance for day-to-day. These Sheer Lipsticks deliver just that. You’ll find that depending on the pigment and undertone of your lips, each of these lipsticks will look different. Shimmer Kiss is a transparent/pale gold lipstick with gold flecks; Crystal Rose is a peach-pink with gold flecks; and Berry Kiss is a deep burgundy berry with gold flecks.
Swatched on the lips, you can see that they each add a light infusion of colour. While they claim to be buildable, I find the lighter two colours in particular start to look a little milky on the lips when overapplied. So I just wouldn’t. These feel creamy and moisuturising, though you can feel the small glitter particles every so slightly when pressing your lips together. I can see myself getting quite a bit of use out of Crystal Rose; I’d class this more as a tinted lip balm with a lipstick-like application.
