I’ve been swinging from one extreme to the next recently, particularly when it comes to beauty. Along with my budget beauty finds, I also gave my beauty collection a little facelift – pun intended – of the luxury kind. And I kind of went all out… I put the blame partly on the fact that I’ve been binge-watching Beauty Favourites videos for the last month and a half, and the rest on the fact that my birthday was coming up so #treatyoself, right?
With a beauty wishlist almost a mile long (okay not quite), I figured that it was as good a time as any to snap up a few new bits that I’d heard so many good things about. It’s pretty safe to say I went a little overboard with Charlotte Tilbury – her name is on the lips of almost every Beauty Youtuber right now – and for the most part, it has been overwhelmingly positive.
No beauty update would be complete without a trip to Sephora – and I have to say I’m grateful it’s a fifteen minute walk from my office otherwise I think I’d be spending a lot more time browsing the aisles and swatching all of the things. I did grab a couple of things, namely the Bite beauty matte creme lip crayons and a Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick.
While I was at it, I also picked up a few new bits from Mecca; the Too Faced chocolate bar palette (which is just as good as I’d heard), a little NARS, and a candle from Diptyque (my first one, would you believe?!). Oh, and then there’s also the odd thing I picked up from David Jones – alright, I guess I really did go overboard…
Given that I’ve been trying to shift my mindset away from new wardrobe purchases (adhering to the French Five Piece Wardrobe Challenge is truly the ultimate in mindful shopping), it’s only natural that I’d turn to my latest obsession – beauty – and the odd lipstick here and there seems to have served as a bit of a pick-me-up, without the same financial burden as a new pair of designer heels. At any rate, I’ve certainly got enough new make-up to play around with (and use up!), that I think I’m pretty much set for the rest of 2015. Famous last words, right?
PS. Oh, and like usual, if you’re interested in hearing my thoughts on these products (in a quick mini-review style), then feel free to check out my latest video x
