It’s been a while since I shared a post of this kind, so I thought I’d talk through some of the things that have been inspiring me lately, style-wise. Despite the rain and brisk weather, I’ve been thinking just a little bit about my spring wardrobe. So let’s just into the five looks that have been informing my spring style…
1. Blouse-y tops paired with denim
I try to incorporate a bit of balance into my outfits, and I love the mixed proportions of pairing a loose billowy blouse with a fitted pair of jeans (or even some shorts). It feels soft and feminine, though I like that you can effortlessly change the mood of the outfit just be throwing an oversized blazer (like this one) over the top. I’ve got a couple of blouses that I’ve been reaching for to style this look up, including this gauzy balloon sleeve blouse from H&M, and this knife-pleated blouse from Elizabeth & James.
2. All white outfits
It’s no secret how chic I think a simple monochrome outfit together is. It’s one of my best tricks for making an outfit truly look effortless and stylish at the same time. While I haven’t shied away from an all white look for winter, this crisp combo really comes into its own as the seasons shift and become a little warmer. To really pull off that ‘short suit’ look, I’ve been hunting around for a nice pair of white linen shorts. So far, the closest I’ve found are this particular pair, which are belted at the waist.
3. Slip dresses
I have a lovely little mini-style slip dress in my wardrobe from Grana that was a bit of a favourite during autumn/winter, as it was so easy to layer up, but now I’m ready to try and make it work for my spring style. I’m planning on pairing it with little t-shirts underneath, or with my faux leather jacket thrown over my shoulders for a slightly different vibe.
4. Trousers go with e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g
Denim has been a bit of a fall back when it comes to planning out my daily outfits, so I recently picked up a new pair of tailored trousers (similar option here) to switch in as a slightly dressed up alternative. And I’ve been loving the change. My favourite combination is pairing them with a silk cami and some low block sandals (like these ones ones I recently picked up from ATP Atelier).
5. Lady like
The final spring style look that I’ve been really drawn to is anything a little ladylike. This is a bit of a trend for the season ahead, so it’s no surprise, and I did talk about it in a little more detail last week. For me, this whole look has been centred around these silky leopard print midi skirts, which have been a fun addition to my wardrobe. I love that they work effortlessly paired with a little black turtleneck, and my favourite silk camisoles, or a basic t-shirt (these ones from Uniqlo’s U line are pretty great).
