Experience has taught me that the best way to navigate the Black Friday and Cyber Week sales is to have a strategy. So every year, without fail, I put together a wishlist of sorts. Items I’d like to add to my wardrobe (ideally, on sale). Gifts for loved ones. Home decor that needs refreshing. It’s a list I’ll build up over six months, with the aim of ticking off a few key pieces, with the rest being “nice-to-haves”.
If you haven’t already bookmarked it, my Black Friday/Cyber Monday cheat sheet is here, and will be updated every day with new promotions/deals across all my favourite retailers.
Given how early the sales started this year, I’m already starting to think about adding a few things to cart. So, let’s chat through what I’ve been eying up.
My Black Friday Wishlist 2023
Facade Pattern Cotton Trousers | I own these trousers in wool, and they’re hands down among my ultimate favourites. And have been, for the past three years. Yes, they’re that good. Bonus points for being machine washable too. I’ve had my eye on the cotton pair for a while, figuring the cropped style in particular would be great for an Aussie summer. But, of course, being a little slow to make a move, the white pair sold out before I managed to add them to cart. Instead, I spotted this full length version, which is just as chic and leans into the current fashion zeitgeist. Of all the fashion items on my wishlist, these are the one thing I’m most likely to buy. I have the wool ones in sizes XS and S, and think I’d go with the S here as they’re easy to hike up a little when cinched with a belt.
Marle Baba Hat (also here) | A big part of my summer style uniform that I seldom share, and I thought there was room in my wardrobe for another option. I actually bought one of Marle’s cotton canvas hats a few years back, and it’s been a brilliant purchase. Machine washable, and I like that it packs down easily (for both suitcase or handbags!). Currently have my eye on the Baba Hat, which has a wider brim – something I’m seeking out for that additional sun protection. Also like that the brim appears to have some sort of malleable structure to it? Assuming there might be a wire that gives it shape. It’s got me intrigued. Definitely the most practical fashion piece on my list.
Essen the Label Strappy Sandals | Really just black dainty strappy sandals in general, but the Essen ones really took my fancy. Though to my dismay, seems they’re best for narrow feet so if you have any recommendations, please share! I’ve been wearing my beloved YSL tribute slides for more than three summers now, and while they’re still going strong, I’ve come to realise that as a wide foot girly, the best sandal for me is something with barely there straps. Basically, they’re not my first pick if I want to do a day of heavy walking. I’ve searched high and low to try and track down the Aeyde Ella sandals – which I love – in black but no dice. Leather must be super soft, and be a style with zero break in period.
Laminez White Mini Skirt | Six years ago I bought a white denim mini from J.Crew, which went on to become one of my most worn wardrobe staples of all time. So much so, that it’s looking very worse for wear. It’s misshapen, and there’s a couple of sunken in marks that while not overly noticeable, are a reflection of just how loved the skirt is. This skirt from Laminez looks like a great option as a replacement. Silhouette is a little more fitted through the hip/thigh which I like, and also a little longer. I probably will end up skipping out on this as for the summer, I have a pair of white shorts which give me a similar-ish look.
Birrot Khaki Jacket | Birrot is a rather new brand discovery from me, and if I could, I’d add their entire collection to my wardrobe. I love the simplicity with modernised elements. Truly chic. My fave piece is this khaki jacket with buttons down the front and curved hem. Sadly looks to be sold out in my size, and also, on the more expensive end of the spectrum. But, if I happen to come across one in my size, and the price is right, I may end up adding it to cart. Otherwise it may be one of the many items that end up in wishlist purgatory until the end of time…
Birrot Khaki Trousers | Same brand, but these trousers also caught my eye. I have been on the hunt for a pair of beige/khaki trousers and over the years, added a few options to my wardrobe but never really reached for them. I think a combination of wrong silhouette/size and also, wrong shade of beige. This has the depth/intensity of colour that I’m craving, and is in a chill fabrication. Also love the snaps at the ankle to adjust the fit. The other pair I have my eye on are these ones from COS.
Salt&Pepper Wooden Chopping Board Set | Part of an attempt to reduce the amount of plastics in our kitchen, I want to replace our folio chopping board set. Best that I’ve seen is this one from Salt&Pepper which I think is a great deal at 40% off, as well as being pretty aesthetically pleasing too. Also for consideration is this Bamboo Folio Set from Joseph Joseph.
Freedom Short Tumbler Glasses | We’re hosting Christmas this year, and it dawned on me that one thing we are lacking is enough glasses. We already have a set of these short tumblers and love them. Perfect size for an iced coffee, orange juice, or a cocktail, and robust too. We pop ours in the dishwasher and have had no issues. Hoping that these go on sale, but I’ll be buying them either way. They’re great value for money.
MagicLinen Bedding | Definitely a nice-to-have than a had-to-have, but I’ve been considering getting another linen set from MagicLinen as I’ve been so thrilled with the quality of our initial set. Which, you can read my review of here. Lots of great colour options too, the only hard part would be deciding which one to go with.
Victoria Beckham Beauty Satin Kajal Liner | I made my first VB Beauty purchase during last year’s Black Friday sales, and overall, have been really happy with what I bought. I’d actually meant to purchase this last year, but for some reason failed to add it to my order. Truth be told, I don’t often use products like this as I favour a liquid liner for a super precise wing. But, I like the concept of being able to smudge it all over the eye like a shadow.
Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick | One of the items I actually ended up buying last year, though I don’t like the colour I chose. It’s always such a gamble when you’re shopping online. And browns in particular can be tricky to get right. That said, I do love the formula. It’s creamy, with a satin finish, and feels comfortable to wear. Would love to try this in another colour, and if I do end up buying the Kajal Liner, then I’ll probably add one of these lipsticks to cart, too.
