Today’s post is for my friends in the Northern Hemisphere, who by now I suspect are finally in the throes of spring. Autumn and spring happen to be two of my favourite seasons style-wise. For the former, it’s a chance to layer up following a hot and balmy summer, and for the latter, it’s the ability to finally to whip off the layers and be more creative with my styling options. And the one thing that goes hand in hand with warmer weather is a good spring floral.
Wearing Everlane white sweatshirt, Boden floral skirt (wearing a size UK6 – it’s at least a full size too big on me so note that this style runs large), Boden braided sandals, Everlane square day tote (review here), Mejuri earrings & necklace, Missoma mini molten necklace
As Miranda Priestley would say, ’Florals for spring? Groundbreaking…’ Despite opting for more minimal and pared back basics, I’m not immune to the allure of a pretty floral print. And honestly, I don’t think it would be spring without one. They rank up there with spots and stripes as a timeless option, and it’s a print that can be brought out season after season without feeling tired.
For me, it’s all about the micro-floral print. Something that is relatively nondescript but adds a touch of whimsy to the garment. Take the skirt I’m wearing above for example. The cornflower blue hue is a nod to one of this season’s trends. Combined with the high-low hemline and ruffled design, they are the stars of this piece. And the beautiful spring floral print is more subtle by comparison, and acts more as a complement.
I’ve always felt that the key to wearing a spring floral – or any kind of print really – is to let that be the hero of your outfit. If the floral item is a basic tee or pencil skirt, you can be more adventurous with your other styling elements. A ruffle sleeved blouse is a nice pairing with a floral pencil skirt. Just as pairing a full broderie anglaise skirt with a simple floral printed top will make for a chic combination. It’s all about creating balance, which you can see in action in my outfit above.
And while I don’t think florals are just for spring (I’ll be wearing the above skirt right up until it gets too cold to reach for it!), I thought I’d share some of my favourite spring floral picks that I’ve spotted over the last couple of weeks for those of you headed towards warmer weather.

Will you be wearing florals for the season ahead?
I love the smaller scale print of this skirt, super cute!! Definitely a floral I would like to wear. I’m pretty picky with my florals, haha
