You know when you have that feeling before a show, when you just know that it’s going to be good? Well, that was exactly how it was for me before the Hailwood show. And I wasn’t disappointed. Straying away from his roots, Adrian introduced a line of denim which seamlessly fit in with a a more elegant and tailored aesthetic. Unlike other shows, his influences kept you guessing, as a multitude of themes were incorporated into a collection that was equal parts cool, glamorous and sophisticated. There seemed to be a little bit of the 70s, a little bit of the 90s, and a little bit of classic Hailwood, all rolled into one, with movies like Grease promptly coming to mind.
Accessories were kept to a minimum, but the few that did make the runway were a small selection of leather wrap bracelets and clutches from Elisabeth Kwan, their metallic sheen complementing the rich colours of the collection; because sometimes, the clothes just say it all.
