I thought I’d do something a little different today, and share a real-time OOTD, which I just snapped in the bedroom. I mentioned this on my Instagram recently, but I’m finding it a little trickier to shoot my outfits out and about now that I’m pregnant, as the tripod and equipment is quite cumbersome to carry around (I self shoot a lot of my photos!).
Wearing Glassons snap front tank, Staple the Label gingham skirt (old but this is very similar and on sale too!), Maryam Nassir Zadeh sandals (similar here), Louis Vuitton Neverfull (MM size), Ania Haie earrings, Mejuri bracelet, Muru Jewellery bracelet, Chupi ring, Fedoma Jewellery ring & necklace
It’s 24 degrees in Sydney today – pretty mild by summer standards – but I wanted to go for something light and breezy. While I was home in Wellington, I had 45 minutes to spare so I popped into a couple shops along the “golden mile”, Glassons being one of them. One thing I’d realised is that I was a little short on fitted tanks (with stretch!) that I could wear over the summer. I spotted this one with the popper closure, and really liked the simplicity. The low scoop neck is really flattering and great for showing off a necklace stack, and the cropped length is perfect for tucking into all my high-waisted skirts.
The skirt I opted for is from Staple the Label, but sadly I believe it’s sold out now. Ganni do an incredibly similar style which I noticed is currently discounted as part of the Black Friday sales. Gingham is one of those prints I’m always drawn to during the warmer months; it’s like spring and florals – one of those perfect pairings. The high-low asymmetrical ruffled hemline and faux wrap front detail (with a little split) give this skirt incredible movement when walking. I just love how that adds another layer of dimension to the outfit. It also has a stretchy waistband which fits very comfortably over the bump.
Because the key elements of this outfit are very monochromatic, I extended that down to my shoes. I went for my black Maryam Nassir Zadeh palma sandals. These are in a black suede, so despite keeping in line with the colour scheme, they add visual depth through texture. I’ve really been loving wearing these shoes as they are so ridiculously comfortable. I put this down to the low block heel and functional design.
Finally, let’s talk about the bag. You may have actually gotten a peek of me unboxing this beauty on my IGTV last week… I’ve had this on my ultimate luxury handbag wishlist for years now, and after mulling over what to use as a “baby” bag, it made sense to splurge on this. For me, it was the idea that I could use something like this during a really special chapter, while also using it beyond that, and I loved the sense of tying those fond memories to the bag. The thing that really pushed me over the edge was when I was home in Canberra, chatting to a local woman in the village where my dad lives. She’d had her Neverfull for 18 years, used it as a baby bag, and it had held up incredibly well. It looked loved but not battered – testament to how hardwearing Louis Vuitton canvas is. I went for the Damier Ebene (a little more subtle than the classic monogram), and with this outfit, I liked how the checkerboard pattern mimics the print of the skirt, but contrasts as it’s in a neutral brown hue.
I’d love to know what you think about this quick and simple OOTD, as I talk through how I paired my look together (I can also talk about comfort, fit, etc!).
Great OOTD J! And I love that you made a splurge with your baby bag too! We use the LeSportSac Ryan Baby Bag and it continues to serve us well – though I can’t really see myself using it after our youngest grows up to be a young boy.
The natural light at your place makes it great for OOTD’s – great that you are still able to shoot them as you head into the more advanced stages of pregnancy! XX
