An outfit from a couple weeks’ back, but pretty representative of one of my go-to looks for our (very) mild winter here in Sydney. A nice cosy knit (usually with a tee or long-sleeve layered underneath); a tailored trouser which cuts off just above the ankle; and a smart shoe.
If I’m honest, I have to say that I haven’t worn those Gucci loafers as much as anticipated when I bought them. And over the past couple weeks, I’ve been making a real concerted effort to get them into regular rotation. The main issue I was running into was that the brown – which is very classic, I might add – often felt off. I’d play around with different options, and always fall back on a shoe in a classic black. But after a bit of experimentation, I discovered I especially love how they pair with creamy neutrals, and navy tones. And by leaning into that, I’ve found I’m actually wearing them more.
Moral of the story? Experiment with your clothes. Spend some time trying on different outfit combinations. It might just be the trick to make a seldom worn piece become an everyday staple.
