Five weeks until the official start of summer here in Australia, and I’m just as surprised as you are that I’m still reaching for the knitwear. Spring weather here in Sydney has been wild. That said, it’s provided me with the perfect excuse to stretch out knitwear season (my favourite). Oh, and put some new sweaters to the test.

Wearing Jenni Kayne half zip sweater* (size S – JamieLee15 for 15% off); AERE the Label trousers (size AU8); Andersons belt; Aeyde patent loafers* (size EU40 – JAMIEFF10 for 10% off); Lemaire croissant bag

One of my go-to looks has been some kind of cosy knit, tapered trousers, and a closed toe shoe (of some sort). Nothing groundbreaking, but a simple formula that is easy to do the styling maths on during my five minute rush to get ready every morning.

Jenni Kayne Half Zip Sweater Review

This outfit was all centred around the Jenni Kayne half zip sweater; a recent release from the brand. I’m wearing the size S here, and you can see it has that very effortless relaxed fit the brand is known for. This is a little boxy through the body, but has a decent amount of length. Which means it will work with low waisted styles (if that’s your preference). In terms of the cashmere, this has the same soft, plush hand feel as the cocoon cardigan. The zip is smooth; no tugging or sticking when adjusting how open the collar is.

Perhaps my only complaint is that I wish the neckline was more generous. I’d love for the open collar to splay widely across the neck for more of a slouchy feel. Something I suppose could be achieved if you were to size up. You can expect the cashmere to pill, particularly in areas where there is a lot of friction; think sleeves or where your bag rubs up against your body. Easily fixed with a cashmere comb though.

Aeyde Patent Loafers Review

Also want to give a mini update on the status of my Aeyde patent loafers. Patent leather is usually on my “no-go” list. But the idea of adding in something shiny at my feet was too alluring to pass up. Knowing that my prior experience with Aeyde was pretty positive was enough for me to add these to cart (*ordered using credit).

I’ve actually been blown away by how comfortable these are. Given I have both wide feet and a bunion on my left foot, I was expecting some discomfort. That hasn’t been the case. I feel like some sorcery has been applied to these loafers; I haven’t had a single blister or pain point wearing them. The (patent) leather is super soft, and it’s actually given slightly with wear too. Length wise they fit true to size. A good one to opt for if like me, you’re craving a patent shoe, but would typically avoid them.

I think AEYDE has really cute shoes, but I haven’t been able to find anything on if they’re a sustainable shoe brand. Wish they were more transparent
