Decided to go for the Parisian classic striped top and skinny jeans combo for day eight. One of my girlfriends jokes that this is the “mum uniform”; they’re items we all likely have in our closets, and it’s a pairing that always just seems to *work*.
Wearing Grana mens stripe top (old but this is a cute t-shirt version); Madewell skinny jeans* (also here); Workshop utility jacket (old but this looks the same); Vaneli two tone pumps; Cuyana leather tote; Witchery belt
I can’t recall whether I’ve mentioned this already, but these Madewell jeans have been such a great addition to my wardrobe. It probably comes up every time I talk about denim, but the cropped length cuts off perfectly given my short inseam (despite my height – 172cm). Often I’ll look to the petite section as I find having to get jeans tailored such a faff, so it’s a bonus when they’re the right length straight off the rack. The quality of the denim is really nice, too. It’s thick, has a bit of stretch so they’re comfortable to lounge in, and they don’t seem to bag out; even after days of wear.
One of my secret shopping tricks I often use is to buy from the men’s section. I haven’t explored this much beyond shirts, knitwear and tops, but have frequently found that it’s an easy way to get that boxy but relaxed fit. This striped top was one of those finds. As the sleeves are quite long, it can sometimes look a little too big, so to compensate I always messily roll them up. To create a bit of separation between my upper and lower half, I’ve belted my outfit.
The shoes are an oldie but a goodie that you’ll have seen me wear over and over. A great dupe for the Chanel two tone pumps if you were ever looking for one. Despite the low block heel, these are comfortable enough to walk long distances in, and I find they always elevate a casual outfit.
