I wrapped up this winter 30X30 capsule wardrobe on Thursday, and have to admit, it felt a little strange having free reign over my closet again. Ironically, towards the end I’d begun longing for a bit of stylistic freedom, yet I found myself used to having that curated edit and in a variation of my most worn style combos the first day out.
Wearing Witchery black linen blouse (old but similar knitted version here and I also love this alternative); Marle silk skirt; Everlane 40 hour flats*; Celine saddle bag
A post on the learnings I took away from this renewed capsule wardrobe experience will be coming later this week. But I thought before that, I should probably share the final two outfits I found myself wearing. First up is this head to toe black number.
Perhaps it was the fabrics, but I felt uber-feminine in this outfit. I’m tossing up with whether I’m satisfied with the (taken up) length of this skirt, so have been experimenting wearing it at varying lengths by rolling it up at the waist. It’s a simple fix that gives me an instant “altered” length, though it can be a little tricky finding the right top to conceal the waist.
I’ve found myself wearing my Vaneli two tone pumps almost daily, so decided to give them a break in favour of these pointed toe flats from Everlane. I love how the pointed toe adds some visual length to my legs!
For my final 30X30 outfit, I went with some favourites. A long sleeved striped top, faded black skinny jeans, pointed toe flats, topped off with a utility jacket. As luck would have it, I got spit up all over me just as we were getting to leave the house at midday, so had to change into some other capsule wardrobe favourites. That said, I still thought this was worth sharing – even if I would have been melting if I’d managed to leave the house in it. It was a scorching 22 deg C winter day!
Wearing Grana stripe top (old but cute s/s option here); Zara skinny jeans (old but I like these); Workshop utility jacket (old but this is a great similar option); Everlane 40 hour flats*; Linjer cross body bag*
When I look back on all my outfits over the past month, my favourites almost always included a striped top. Clearly, it’s a style winner for me. I’m not much for bells and whistles; my contents of my closet act more as an ode to simple dressing so a classic print is a nice way to keep things feeling “exciting”.
What really ties this entire outfit together though, is the jacket. That “third” piece is such an effortless way to look chic and adds another layer to your outfit; and not just from a visual sense. My colour palette for this capsule was so pared back, that it’s been nice to inject a little earthiness into my outfits with this jacket.
I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing my daily outfits for the past month as much as I’ve enjoyed sharing them. If you want to look back at any of the outfits I’ve shared, they’re all tagged HERE.
