More and more so than ever before, I seem to be gravitating towards a more simple, minimal look. Less prints, less frills, less volume. It’s interesting, looking back at closed snippets of my wardrobe even one year ago, a symphony of colour and prints, compared with a more subtle view I see today when I take a peek. Not that I’m complaining, as with all the books on minimalism, and numerous posts on wardrobe editing and the french ‘gamine’ look, it really was inevitable. The early addition of a couple of much needed winter wardrobe items could not have been more timely, with Autumn escaping us seemingly early leaving us with the cold bite of Winter much too soon. Considering just a few days ago I couldn’t wait for the cold to come, I should probably be a little more careful what I wish for..
I die for your shoes and bag – Happy blogging.

I love the minimalist look on other people but I have never managed it! You look lovely here!

Haha, I’m very much feeling the same right now with the progression towards a more minimal style. I keep staring at the crazily printed Karen Walker and Orla Kiely and Erdem pieces that are in my wardrobe and thinking “When the hell am I going to feel like wearing you again?”. The problem is that I know I bought those pieces when I was rebelling against minimalist style and had been feeling like there wasn’t anything particularly singular or interesting in my wardrobe! So yeah, I’m cautious about getting rid of them in case I end up feeling like rebelling again, even though they feel completely incongruous with how I want to dress at the moment.

I hear what you’re saying. I worry that I’m going to get rid of all these things and then wonder why I don’t have something more ‘fun’ in my wardrobe – although I suppose the point is to find something a little more grown up that is fun at the same time, rather than skrts which poof out and blouses which are bold yet seem dated to me. Lately I’ve been feeling a little like my style is bordering on the boring side, and perhaps I’m not overly satisfied by that, but I need to remember that in the end, it truly just is clothing to cover your body in, isn’t it?
Yea, I’m looking simple stuff too, I just never seem to buy it, ha ha. Eventually I will succumb to my instinct of basic.
I loooove that skirt! It looks really comfy.

kind of amazing
I think I’ve seen this change in your outfits too, if I recall correctly there were indeed loads of frills and florals etc. when I first hit your page. 🙂 Simple, clean and chic looks suit you so this change isn’t for worse – and I should do some (loads of) editing myself ! 🙂 And what I love about your outfits is that even the clothes would be simpler there’s always a catch; bold necklace, or these adorable kitten flats! x

Really loving this look, so clean, simple & minimal but the Charlotte Olympia flats & PS11 add an extra kind of ‘pop’ to it, gorgeous! That skirt is beautiful too, the fabric looks like an absolute dream, perfectly balanced between structured/slouchy.
LOVE your kitty flats!
