Acne angora knit sweater (cream version here), Lover labyrinth lace dress, Alexander Wang kori oxfords, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag, Karen Walker rings (rabbit & heart)
Darker days seem to call for darker wardrobe choices, with black on black on black making an appearance more than once over the past couple of weeks. In an attempt to get a bit more mileage out of my lace dresses (this one a more recent addition, thanks to the wardrobe cull of an extremely fashionable voguette), I’ve been pairing them in the most obvious way I know how, with an oversized knit jumper thrown over the top. This particular jumper from Acne has the added bonus of letting a bit of lace peek out just above the neckline, making the need for a necklace simply void.
Speaking of wardrobe culls, I seem to be in the midst of one myself, or should I rephrase to say an on-going one. There’s a fine line between the way you’d like to dress, and the type of clothing that suits you, and finding pieces that fit the latter seem to be harder than I had thought, as slight aspects of personal taste seem to be slowly changing over time. Perhaps proving to be a further obstacle to achieving wardrobe nirvana is seeing scores of lovely outfits that seem to feature bold prints and lots of colour, which is a lot more fun that the more sensible and practical approach I seem to be taking towards my own wardrobe. That, and the inability to let go of pieces which I’ve had for years, regardless of the fact that they have barely seen the light of day and their sentimental value is not quite what it once was. With little much planned for ANZAC Day aside from catching up with a couple of friends, I can easily foresee an afternoon spent playing dress ups..
I love how just throwing on a sweater can totally create a whole different look and I love it over that lace dress! I also like the lace peeking out the top. Beautiful look babe!

I can see why you’re trying to get more wear out of it. It’s so lovely! I actually really love the more casual look. It doesn’t get any better than a nice cosy knit and comfy shoes. I’m in the middle of a cull too 🙂

Oh, I love how you’ve dressed down that beautiful Lover dress! You look very chic, as per usual. I must say though, after following your blog for a while, I’m often tempted to go out and invest in something from Karen Walker and/or Lover myself… Good luck with the cull! I’m about to do one myself, after spending frivolously since the start of the year 🙁
Your “dressing down” is the equivalent of me dressing up! So pretty – love the lace 😉
