Natalie Cantell, MBFWA 2013

I’m one of those people that can be kinda awkward when meeting someone I don’t know. As in, I say something super awkward or my hearing just disappears from me and I’m that person asking someone’s name three or four times before saying ‘oh yeah’ even though I’m not quite sure I heard properly. I think it’s fair to say both things happened when I met Natalie on day one of MBFWA. It wasn’t until we swapped cards that the penny dropped, ‘oh I follow you on instagram!’. Awkward moments aside, Natalie was an absolute sweetheart every time I saw…

Impracticalities

Witchery cable knit sweater (similar here or here), Lover ‘sara’ lace skirt (on sale!), Topshop court shoes, Proenza Schouler PS11 bag While I’m mostly drawn to the things in life that are practical, there are two exceptions I am generally willing to make. The most obvious, of course, would be my growing collection of high heeled shoes in all manner of heights – a hindrance when running most errands although their appeal levels still remain high. Are you brand loyal?

Karen Walker keyhole frill blouse & leatherette skirt (similar), Zara white jacket (similar), Faith ‘chanell’ heels, J. Crew earrings, Marc by Marc Jacobs katie bracelet, SGC & KW rings I’m not sure I’ve ever been one of those people who has always needed to have something new. Loaded on lipsticks

I’ve always been that girl who was completely clueless about make up. Following the lead of my friends in high school, I slicked some mascara on my top lashes, and smudged a little black kohl in the bottom corners of my eyes. I couldn’t say whether I ever bothered to moisturize, the only real “regime” I had was washing my face with a light organic scrub. Over the years, this evolved little by little. I discovered bronzing powder, which has become a daily necessity so that I don’t look overly pale, kohl pencil was replaced with liquid eyeliner on the…

Lace dresses and QB weekend

ASOS lace dress (similar here or here), Karen Walker royal cropped jacket, Charles Jourdan heels, 3.1 by Phillip Lim rosette bag, J Crew earrings, MBMJ katie bracelet, Karen Walker ring There’s something about a white or cream lace dress that no matter how gorgeous it is, you just know it isn’t going to make it out of your closet very often. For me, it’s generally that bridal aspect that seems to be associated with both ivory and lace, and the fact that something so delicate quite often needs an occasion to wear it. I’ve had this ASOS lace dress a…
