Fine jewellery

While it was probably hard to notice, every day I was in Sydney for Fashion Week I found myself reaching for the same pieces of jewellery. Which, I should probably point out, are the same pieces of jewellery that I tend to wear on an almost daily basis, any diversion from this a rare occurrence. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia day four

Essentially a choice of comfort over style. Alice McCall SS’14 ‘Les Galeries de Poison’

I would have been lying if I had said I wasn’t looking forward to the Alice McCall show, with the invitation hinting at something both vibrant and truly beautiful. Official handouts described in an increasingly verbose fashion, a collection which predominantly took inspiration from the sea, and artists Ernst Haekel and Rene Jules Lalique. Surpassing any expectations I may have had, McCall’s cruise collection seemed to mimic life below the sea, in silky fabrics that glided along the runway like a jellyfish through water, in soft muted tones, with brightness coming from the intricately designed watercolour prints.
