Aurelio Costarella SS’ 14

Retrospect was the theme at Aurelio Costarella’s presentation at MBFWA this morning. Celebrating 30 years in the Australian Fashion Industry, Costarella combined recurring themes from past collections, creating something truly beautiful in the full sense of the word. To say I was blown away is an understatement, as every piece was in its own way positively eye-catching, and not often does it happen that I am completely lost for words, at least not where fashion is concerned. I’m always told a photo is worth a thousand words, so on that note, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Things I’ve seen, Fashion Week Australia day one

ph. by me – in order of shows attended Crawling out of bed this morning at some ungodly hour, I was clearly on autopilot as I prepared to head to the airport. In some random stroke of luck, all went without a hitch as my plane landed a half hour early in Sydney and customs queues were nonexistent, essentially washing away any concerns I may have had about missing the Camilla & Marc show. Jimmy D ‘Gloom Generation’

Final stop for the night was the Service Depot, for a special off-site presentation of Jimmy D’s AW’13 ‘Gloom Generation’ collection, hosted in collaboration with Matthew Stopforth of BrightBlack. As time slowly progressed, Service Depot filled up with a darkly dressed fashionable crowd, who shortly after 9pm, were asked to part from the runway, so that the show could begin. Sullen looking models took to the runway, stopping to sit at the carefully formed seating area at the front of the window. Essentially forming an art installation of sorts, the models sat in front of a ‘faux fire’, attempting to…

While it’s not blindingly clear, my energy levels were at an all time low this morning, having committed to staying up late last night to post all my Wellington Fashion Week coverage. But, in saying that, I did get up…

Kicking off Wellington Fashion Week 2013

‘Celine me alone’ t-shirt, RUBY pixie skirt (similar), Helmut Lang blazer, 3.1 by Phillip Lim bag (similar), See by Chloe boots, KW & SGC rings, MBMJ katie bracelet Last night, Wellington Fashion Week kicked off with a roaring start, beginning with a WORLD fashion showcase, followed by the WFW opening night party. Somewhat completely fulfilling a Wellington cliche, I found myself almost head to toe in black, stripes aside, having decidedly taken a more casual approach to the evening amid a crowd of some of Wellington’s most fashionably dressed. This morning, almost without realizing, I found myself grasping in…
