The art of waiting

The biggest thing I’ve taken away from all my years of shopping pre-loved has been patience. Especially for more obscure items. The timing has to be just right. You need to be actively seeking out said item, at the same time someone is choosing to list it (on any number of re-sale sites), and crossing fingers that the price the seller is asking is in line with what you’re willing to spend. At this point I’ve lost count of the number of times the stars have aligned, only to lose out as I can’t wrap my head around the asking…

Travel Capsule Wardrobe for a Wellington Winter

Suitcase full of clothes but nothing to wear. This used to be a common conundrum for me as a teen travelling to Australia during school holidays to visit my dad. I hadn’t mastered the art of packing, or mapping out any kind of capsule wardrobe. So I’d pick items without any thought, figuring something was bound to work.  It was when I discovered the capsule wardrobe method that I started to think more strategically about packing. Uniqlo Review 2022: Try On and Wear & Tear Updates

My latest brand review on my YouTube channel is centred all around one of my affordable favourites for basics; Uniqlo. I’ve been shopping there for over a decade now, and over that time, figured out what I think is worth spending on, and which items I feel you can get better value for money elsewhere. Hopefully, you’ll find these insights useful, for the next time you’re shopping there. I’ll…

A blue tonal OOTD

Filing this one under tonal outfits to recreate. Clearly having a bit of a moment with the colour blue, in desaturated – yet rich – tones. The only thing that really feels “out of the box” for me with this outfit is the colour combo. Which, if you’re opting to add in colour, is another tip. Go with items you know well and wear often. This can be said for adding in new colours, but also when adding in new silhouettes. You’ll already have a good frame of reference, so the integration feels more effortless and like less “work”. Wearing…

Styling 2022 Trends

Just because your closet leans on the more classic end of the spectrum, it doesn’t mean that you can’t – or don’t want to – participate in trends. Key to making this work for you, is identifying trends which are ultimately timeless, but just seem to be capturing the current fashion zeitgeist. If a trend could be trend-less, these would be them. The main ones on my radar? Oversized blazers, which have been a solid style staple the past three decades (at least). From a personal perspective, these recall memories of the vintage era in the early days of blogging.…
