PSA: 25% off at Madewell

Madewell sale

One item in my closet that I harp on about constantly is my Madewell courier shirt (currently available in the floral gingham). I bought this close to four years ago now, and it’s been such a strong staple in my everyday wardrobe. Madewell just so happens to be one of those brands that I really want to explore more this year (particularly their denim). Madewell are currently holding a sale – 25% off everything – so it’s a good opportunity to snap up some wardrobe basics ahead of the new season.

Below, I’ve picked out five of my favourite finds on the site; and of course they all happen to be neutral, classic pieces (plus a splash of my favourite print).

I like to joke often that I never met a polka dot I didn’t like. And this sweet tiered spotted mini skirt ticks all the boxes for me. I love how it’s been styled on the site, but could also imagine this with a huge oversized sweater, some chunky heeled boots, and a long wrap coat over top for good measure. For spring/summer, I’d opt for a cardigan worn as a top, or a little silk camisole and some strappy sandals.

Cardigans have made a major comeback in the past 12 months. They’re one of those styling tools I’m most excited to wear as the weather cools down. This particular option looks to have a bit of weight to it, and the contrasting tortoiseshell buttons are really pretty. The black or cream would be an obvious choice, but I was most taken by the rich marigold hue or “Egyptian Gold”. It’s a simple way to inject a little bit of colour, but the earthy tone is still something I’d class as a neutral.

Neutrals all winter long is kinda my end game this, and a pair of white skinny jeans is one of the essentials I’ll be calling on day in and day out. I’ve been wanting to try out Madewell’s denim for a while; I like that they offer different rises and leg lengths, plus the exposed button fly closure on this particular pair is such a cool detail.

Accessories are where I love adding in a bit of interest. Key if you rely solely on basics as your core outfit staples day to day. These sandals have a low block heel which looks so comfortable for walking around in all day. But it was the thin, strappy rose multi-coloured straps that caught my eye. These cut off below the ankle, so are going to look flattering on the foot too, as well as visually lengthening the legs due to the neutral colour.

I thought I’d end on a pair of paperbag waist trousers. My style usually calls for a lot of denim, but sometimes it’s pretty easy to get stuck in a bit of a rut with outfits. Trousers to me seem like such an easy switch. This particular pair comes in a delicious oatmeal hue – one of my favourite shades for the season ahead. The trousers offer a bit of texture, with a faint seersucker-esque vertical stripe. A great piece if you’re planning on doing a monotone look. Again I’d probably pair this with an oversized knit, a simple tee, or something that sits off the shoulder.
