I think we can all agree that finding the perfect shade of nude lipstick can feel like an impossible task. I’ve come pretty close – it’s a mix of Charlotte Tilbury’s Bitch Perfect & Penelope Pink – but I’m yet to find an alternative which *doesn’t* quite break the bank.
So, I was pretty excited when I received the new collection of Rimmel’s Lasting Finish Nude Collection Lipsticks by Kate Moss – five creamy nudes ranging from soft pinks to burnt toffee caramels. I’ve been testing these out for the last month and wanted to share with you my thoughts on the new collection.
From l to r: #040, #042, #043, #045 and #048
So let’s talk about the new shades. #040 is a very light, almost ballet pink-toned nude; this was far too light for me and sat on top of my lips rather than naturally blending in (a shame as I think this could be really pretty with a tan!). #042 is a your-lips-but-better nude – it’s a mid range rose-hued pink tone – and very flattering on the lips. #043 is a warm apricot based nude which I think would look great with a tan. #045 is a slightly darker version of #042, but a little more antique rose-tinted; I adore this shade and think it’s a great everyday go-to. And finally, #048 is a very dark burnt chocolate-y berry toned nude and looks like the perfect autumnal shade (a shame we’re halfway on our way to Summer here in Sydney!).
The formula is incredibly creamy and pigmented; one swipe of this across your lips is enough, there’s not really any need to layer this up as you get a pretty opaque finish as it is.
Wear time for me was about three to four hours, depending on how much I was eating or drinking within that time period. This is pretty standard for a creamy satin finish lipstick so no complaints there. One thing I love about these being such easy, nude shades, is that you can reapply on the go – mirror not necessary.
I didn’t find that this set into the fine lines or creases of my lips while wearing it, which was a huge bonus, and the creamy formula means that this is non-drying and very comfortable to wear. There is a very sweet vanilla-apricot fragrance to the lipstick, which dissipates a couple of minutes after applying – so please do bear this in mind if you’re ordering online.
For a product that clocks in at just a mere $12.95, these are a great budget alternative to MAC’s creamy satin finish range. Overall, the shade selection is pretty good, especially given only five new shades were launched, and I think that whether you are fair-skinned or a deep caramel goddess, there’s bound to be a colour which flatters your skin tone.
While I’m yet to try much else from the RImmel/Kate Moss collection, I know that these are c-u-l-t among beauty bloggers (and beauty hoarders!) out there; so I’d love to know, any shades that you just can’t live without from the range?
I wholeheartedly agree with you about these lipsticks. I wear shade 43 and it has a permanent home in my handbag. You definitely need to try some from the normal and matte ranges. I own about 20 of them and they are pretty much all I wear as far as lipstick goes.
I am enjoying reading your blog a lot 🙂

WOW 20!!! That is a serious endorsement right there if I ever did see one. I’ll definitely have to try some of the matte shades; I’m really keen on the red lipsticks (I’m a huge fan of a red lip…) so might pick one up next time I’m at Priceline. And thank you so much for your sweet comment, so glad to hear you’re enjoying it! x
Hello from California! I just threw one of these in #45 into my Asos order; this particular line hasn’t made its way to the US yet, so I’m excited to try it. Thanks for posting such helpful reviews; I’ve been really loving your blog and videos 🙂
