I think half the fun of keeping an eye out for each new drop from Sezane is feeding into the fantasy of what I’d buy. Especially now that I’m trying to taper back my new wardrobe additions in favour of saving for home renovations (crossing fingers this will be happening in 2021). But in usual style, the Sezane October collection has just launched, and I wasted no time in checking it out and picking out my favourites. Below is a little look the items that immediately took my fancy.
Sezane Otis Jumper
One of the first items which caught my eye from the Sezane October collection was the Otis Jumper. It felt very reminiscent of my Everlane alpaca knit sweaters which I adore so much with the ribbed stitch and boxy fit. This has a slightly higher neckline, which is great for cocooning the collar area more as it gets colder. The colour I was most drawn to is the mottled beige. Brown tones seem to be a bit of a trend for the season ahead, and I love how this ticks both that box, while also being a nice warm neutral, too.
Sezane Martha Jupe
My second pick? The Martha Jupe; a beautiful leather mini skirt with suede inserts at the hip. What I love about this piece is the silhouette. It isn’t a-line, but it’s not body con either. It just skims the body, and has more of a straight finish through the thigh. I’m a pear shape and find that this particular style tends to work really well on my frame, and be incredibly flattering. The details on this are lovely too; that fold over petal effect at the centre of the waist is so special, and the suede inserts I mentioned earlier do a great job of breaking up all the smooth leather and making it feel more interesting. Besides, you can’t go wrong with a basic black skirt like this. It’s a good wardrobe essential and the type of piece that is incredibly versatile. Can be dressed up or down.
Sezane Anil Knit
I’m always really drawn to Sezane’s beautiful knitted pieces, and I thought the Anil Knit was a standout. I love the scalloped edging, the fine pointelle stitch to the yarn, and the square neckline is both on-trend, while feeling vintage. The latter being a remark which I’ve brought up countless times in recent weeks – clearly it’s a bit of a trigger for me! My only hesitations with this piece is the fabric composition – a mix of viscose and polyester. If this was made from 100% cotton or merino wool, I’d be jumping on tout suite.
Sezane Kahina Cape
Another piece I immediately fell for was the Kahina Cape. I love pieces like this as it’s a big cosy piece of fabric; essentially a blanket that you can wear over your shoulders out and about. The colour story on this piece is especially beautiful. Again, it falls into that “brown” trend; a beautiful soft taupe brown, with a slightly deeper brown contrast at the ends. The fringe detail along the edges is also a nice touch.
Sezane Jules Boots
My final favourite from the Sezane October collection are the Jules Boots. These were previously released in a mole brown, and a pale burgundy – both of which I thought were beautiful. Maybe I like to play things a little bit safe, but I do tend to favour a black boot. So I was thrilled to see that these also were released in a black suede. Of all the items listed here, these are the ones I’m most tempted to just bite the bullet on and purchase. I like that the brown laminated leather heel creates an element of contrast, plus that split leather panelling on the sides adds some extra textural depth. You really can’t go wrong with a classic boot like this, and they look incredibly comfortable, too!
So those are my five top picks from the Sezane October collection. I’d love to know in the comments if you plan on buying anything? xx
I bought the stripe Leontine and blue Scarlett jumpers, despite approaching Australian Summer! I absolutely love the brand but gosh it’s just so expensive and I find a lot of the composition of pieces disappointing. Really trying to break my Sezane habit and focus on quality pieces that will last!
