Sezane continues to be one of those brands that I have my eye on (despite my current low buy). Naturally, I was excited to see what the brand had in store for spring. As anticipated, there’s lots of pretty florals, soft pastels, and the return of many of the brand’s classic styles. So I wanted to run through the Sezane Spring 2022 collection and highlight some of my top picks. AKA what I’d be swiftly adding to cart.
Sezane Marguarita Dress
I often used to joke that there wasn’t a polka dot I met that I didn’t like. And while they’re not quite as big a part of my closet these days, that still rings true for the most part. I’ve loved seeing spots as a running thread across the past few Sezane collections, and it feels like a continuation of a theme to include the classic print in their spring collection, too. Naturally, the Marguarita Dress caught my eye. The black base with white spots is a striking combination; one that feels a lot more high contrast than if the colours were reversed. The midi length is modest but feels perfect for spring time, and I love the fine spaghetti straps with criss cross back. One I’m sorely tempted to add to cart!
Sezane Felicie Basket Bag
My second pick from the Sezane Spring 2022 collection is the Felicie Basket Bag. Black basket bags are, in my opinion, incredibly striking. Typically you’d expect a woven bag of this nature to come in a natural, wheat hue. It’s somewhat refreshing when it’s a different colour, especially more so to my eyes in black. Yet it still retains that timeless appeal. The angular shape is really interesting to look at, and I suspect this would be a great style to fill with a beach towel, book, and all the necessities. Other details I love? The rich cognac braided straps, the apparent structure of the bag, and how the straw is woven in a alternating small and large scale patterns.
Sezane Melisse Top
Good tops for spring and summer can be hard to come by. Especially when you live in a warmer climate. The Melisse Top ticks a lot of boxes for me. The cut is straightforward, classic even. Thick straps, and a boxy fit through the body; perfect for tucking into shorts, skirts, trousers and jeans. It’s almost angular, sharp, and modern to a degree. Yet it incorporates a feminine touch; the broderie anglaise detailing along the straps and neckline. There’s a bit of friction there with the two styles which really works. Plus, it’s in a rich burgundy hue, which makes me feel like this tank would be a great option to see you from spring right through to autumn.
Sezane Leandra Skirt
I’ve always loved the Leandra skirt, and was so excited to see it released in a woven cotton. It has a lot of those core elements I love; high waist, a mini length that isn’t too mini, texture, and an eye-catching detail. In this case, the belted tie at the waist. This is definitely one of those items that would be perfect for both ends of the transitional season, as well as throughout summer. That one hero piece that’ll see you through and can easily be dressed up or down. It has pockets, too. In can you needed more convincing…
Sezane Magali Top
I have a bit of a weakness for ribbed knitted pieces. So little surprise that the Magali Top caught my fancy. The colour is stunning. An earthy marbled sage green hue. For me, that’s what true makes it stand out, as in all other respects it’s a great basic. Fitted through the body, with thin knitted straps. A good way to add texture and colour to an outfit, plus I could see it working well for a casual office environment, for the weekend, or for an evening out.
Sezane Martha Ring
I’ve been thinking a lot about what my closet is “missing” of late, and the one thing I keep coming back to is bold costume jewellery. Something that isn’t too loud, but will liven up and add a fun touch of whimsy to my more minimal outfits. The Martha Ring immediately caught my eye. I loved the blue and white stones, and the beaded effect around the setting. It’s a statement, yes, but just the right amount.
Sezane Low Anouk Slingback
Shoes are something you’ll know by now that I have a bit of a soft spot for. Woven styles, like the Low Anouk Slingback in particular seem to invoke a sense of nostalgia in me. A reminder of a pair of shoes a stylish school friend of mine owned that I’d always wished I could add to my own closet. That longing seems to have remained with me, even after two decades. These slingback come in a few colours but I found my eye drawn to the black. Naturally. Practicality continues to be a strong theme in my shoe choices, so I appreciate the low heel, and the strap at the ankle to secure the foot in place. Cute! And would be a nice pairing with the Marguarita Dress I mentioned earlier.
Sezane Jacques Trousers
My final pick from the Sezane Spring 2022 collection are the Jacques Trousers. I was inexplicably drawn to the colour; a reflection of what I’m currently craving for my own closet. The mustard yellow is rich and saturated, but despite its bold hue it pairs effortlessly with neutrals. Which, perhaps it was the styling that sealed the deal for me; it feels like a look I could easily recreate with my own wardrobe. Other points of note? The super textured fabric – great. A rope belt at the was it – fun for texture. And the wide fit through the leg – leaning into a silhouette I’m loving a lot right now.
So those are my favourites from the Sezane Spring 2022 collection. Would love to know if you’ll be buying anything?
