Sezane Summer Collection 2021: What’s in my Cart?

Sezane Summer Collection Lookbook 2021

I seem to be making a bit of a habit out of sharing my top Sezane picks, so thought I’d chime in on which items I’m especially drawn to from the brands Summer 2021 Collection which launched today.

This time, as well as talking about the items I love the look of, I thought I’d also share a handful of items which don’t excite me – whether it’s the fabric, the style, or the fit.

Sezane Alban Blouse Review
Sezane Tammie Skirt Review

Sezane Alban Blouse | So many details on this blouse mimic tops I’ve had before. I think that’s why it hits home for me in such a big way. Love the cotton appliqué, and the dainty ruffles which frame the bust and neckline. This feels feminine and girly but in a way that could also be dialled back – perhaps due to it being a crisp white hue. This would be really beautiful worn with a bunch of layered necklaces too.

Sezane Tammie Skirt | If I could, I would buy every single piece in this print. As someone who rarely wears explosions of colour like this, it’s difficult to really explain why this vibrant floral is so appealing to me. Additionally, before even taking a peek at the composition I could tell you immediately that it’s viscose; one of my least favourite fabrics to purchase as it has a tendency to shrink when laundered. One thing I have picked up on, is that I tend to wear print more on my lower half. I like how this skirt is tiered though, and the midi length is nice too and perhaps a bit more wearable for most than the Pacome Skirt in the same print; which, is such a flattering style FYI if you do love a mini. Also adore the look of Lara Blouse in this red carnation print too – that scoop back, wow! Might be leaning into my fantasy self a little with these pieces here though…

Sezane Armelle Dress Review
Sezane Ella Low Sandals Review

Sezane Armelle Dress | Midi and maxi length dresses have made a serious mark on my wardrobe the past two summers. I love how breezy they are, effortless to wear, and can do double duty for a relaxed summer soiree (day to night). Admittedly I think I’d love this more sans the embroidery, which makes it have a slight bit of a prairie/western vibe. The details are beautiful though, such as the contrast stitched scalloped trim on the straps at the back. Plus, it’s always nice when you can visibly see a way to adjust fit on an item; I see the straps as having perfect potential to tighten the bust area – particularly great if you have a smaller chest.

Sezane Ella Low Sandals | I’ve been loving how much Sezane has been leaning into metallics for the warmer months. I purchased the Sezane Low Rosa Sandals (review here) a couple months back, and absolutely adore them. The Ella Low Sandal is in a similar vein, but in my opinion much easier to dress down as there’s no braiding to the leather nor any prominent heel. I can speak to the quality of this beautiful cracked leather, which adds so much depth to the gold tone while wearing well. Also, the criss cross design at the front of the foot is quite flattering (pun intended)… as it doesn’t cut you off at the ankle. They also come in a saddle brown which is nice too, and a “safer” choice. If you want something more visually interesting, then I’d check out the Low Roxanne Sandals. The buckles have a western feel – hints of which you may have noticed is scattered throughout the collection.

Sezane Faustine Top Review
Sezane Jessica Top Review

Sezane Faustine Top & Jessica Top | Bundling these two pieces together as they fit a similar purpose. Cute, sleeveless fitted tanks with a criss cross detail at the back. They add texture, and in my opinion, are just a bit fun. They’re the items I’m most tempted to buy, as I find these types of things generally quite difficult to track down.

Sezane Hayda Skirt Review
Sezane Sophie Dress Review

Sezane Hayda Skirt | Let’s be honest, this isn’t one of the most exciting items in the new Sezane Summer Collection, but it’s timeless and is a piece you could easily whip out year after year. I love that the crinkled cotton as texture; the buttons add contrast; and the paperbag waist gives you shape. Definitely on you can’t go wrong with.

Sezane Sophie Dress | Little black dresses tend to be another safe bet. But I was drawn to the Sophie Dress again for the details. Something I think we can all agree that Sezane tends to get quite right. What makes this a winner – by the pictures, anyway – is the hint of a side slit and what I’m assuming are functional buttons, plus the square cut back with bow detail.

As for the pieces which aren’t really floating my boat?

The Asianne Dress; which while I love the print, it feels a bit too much paired with the rather busy design elements – so many ruffles, 3/4 length sleeves, wrap over skirt, tie at the waist. This would be pretty in a plain block colour, though.

The Bertile Shirt; the lace patterning around the collar/neckline is pretty, but combined with the puff sleeves this feels a little “twee” or costume-y for me. Basically, it’s just not my style.

The Georgie Top; I actually really love this in theory, especially as it looks to be a cotton knit tank, but I think in reality it’ll be a tough one to pull off. The straps are incredibly thin, so you’d need to wear a strapless bra which is a bit too fussy for me, and after 14 months of nursing it’s quite safe to say I no longer feel that comfortable going braless…

The Marlow Jumper; I’m always quite taken by Sezane’s delightful knitwear pieces – which always seem to come in the most beautiful colours – but feel disappointed when I read through the fabric composition as most styles have a mix of kid mohair and polyamide in them. Sadly I haven’t had the best experience laundering these items, and have made it a rule to just generally steer clear and save myself (and hopefully you too…) the hassle!

Are you planning to buy anything from the 2021 Sezane Summer Collection?

I am a fellow neutral lover who is also inexplicably drawn to that coral flower print! It’s so charming, and if Sezane had done it in a natural fiber, I would have been all over that Tammie skirt, but I just refuse to pay Sezane prices for 100% viscose. Maybe I’ll find it secondhand down the line for a more reasonable price.

The only thing I ended up ordering to try out was the Aristote shorts. I don’t love that they’re 50% poly, but at least the rest is wool, and I am such a sucker for those tortoiseshell buttons that Sezane has been putting on everything recently 🙂

I can totally appreciate that Caroline. In the end I actually decided to order it (along with those knitted tops) just to see as I figure if it doesn’t work out, I can always return it to their AU warehouse. One of my YT friends (Helen) said that she’s laundered her viscose pieces from Sezane with no problems so that made me feel a bit more confident that the fabric has been pre-warshed.

Ah yes they’re lovely! I had considered them but then reminded myself I already had two pairs of navy shorts and probably didn’t need another. What are your thoughts on the Lucas shorts? I love them and am hoping that they come out in a different colour as the shade of green isn’t one I’d typically go for 🙂
