I’m currently in windy Wellington, snuggled up in my cosiest knit sweater; despite the fact that it’s Spring, I’m still quite happily browsing knitwear. Clearly, when I find something I *really* like, I stick with it. So when I spotted that the new Sezane Winter 2019 Collection launched yesterday, I couldn’t wait to take a peek.
Adding to my own wardrobe has taken a bit of a backseat since my baby bump popped, but I thought I’d still share my top ten picks from the new collection – just in case you’re on the hunt for something special to add to your wardrobe. One word of caution if you do plan to make a purchase; the returns process at Sezane isn’t very straightforward if you live in a country where they don’t offer free returns. My biggest recommendation would be to print out your order slip and pop this into the parcel, write your order number on the outside of the parcel, and ensure you get tracking. The last one is a must, and will protect you in the instance that they don’t process your return promptly when it’s received at their warehouse.
Sezane Winter 2019 Collection Top Picks
01 | the alban jumper
The Alban jumper was one of the first pieces of knitwear that really stood out to me. The low, deep back which is knotted at the hip, and the oversized blouson sleeves. Most of the knitwear pieces I own are classic crew neck sweaters. They may for great basics, but sometimes you want something that *feels* special, and this is it. This would look gorgeous with some slim fitting trousers and stilettos for a wintery date night or party look during the festive season. One thing worth noting is that it looks a little soft and fuzzy (so may malt if my experience with the Chuck sweater is anything to go by).
02 | the philomene jumper
Next up on the knitwear hit list from the Sezane Winter 2019 Collection is the Philomene jumper. Ecru coloured knitwear was such a big “discovery” for me this year; I love how fresh it looks, and it’s shifted my reliance on dark tones during the colder months as I opted for a light neutral colour a lot over winter. Boat-style necklines are incredibly flattering as they reveal a little bit of the clavicles, but it’s truly the detail on this knit that sold me. The braiding down the front is complemented by four types of knitted stitches; plus there’s those blouson sleeves I love so much again.
03 | the circe jumper
My third and final knitwear pick is this open weave style, which is currently sold out in all sizes. It’s a simple silhouette; boat neckline again, with slim fitting sleeves and a relaxed fit through the body. The hidden detail which isn’t visible from the campaign imagery are the tiny beads which are stitched down the centre of each line of chevron arrows. I’ve actually popped my email down to be alerted when my size comes back in stock for this style, as it’s so different to anything else I own. A great example of an elevated basic.
04 | the denise down jacket
Moving on to outerwear, I don’t think there’s anything more extra (or festive) than a velvet jacket. I love how this combines a street style silhouette of a classic bomber, with a luxe fabric like velvet. The padding looks soft and puffy, and I can imagine this would be a nice warm jacket option, especially when paired with a cosy knit. I’m particularly smitten by the ‘mastic’ colour, which is a soft nude blush.
05 | the monroe coat
I also really like the look of the Monroe coat. While I do think that a solid colour is the more classic option for winter, if you wear mostly basics, it can be fun to jazz up your outfit with a coat in a timeless pattern. I used to have a gorgeous houndstooth coat from Boden which I’ve been regretting parting ways with for months now, and this looks like a gorgeous alternative. It cuts off at the knee so would be practical regardless of whether you’re tall or petite, and the messy look of the houndstooth almost has a vintage-style quality to it. I’d love to know whether it has a vent or is cut straight across as it’s not clear from the photos. All in all, this would make a gorgeous outerwear addition for winter.
06 | the high caroline boots
I have to admit, I’m usually not very taken by the Sezane shoe selection, but the high Caroline boots really caught my eye. Judging by the fact that they’re pretty much sold out, I’d say I’m not the only one. I tend to favour suede shoes as they’re softer on my bunion (suede protector is a must though!), and the combination of the wooden stacked heel with warm camel suede is just dreamy. I also really liked the elasticated panel at the back, and the lace up fastening at the front, which stops at the ankle.
07 | the perle dress
I think I had party season in mind when browsing as this struck me as a perfect piece to wear to ring in the new year, or for something fancy on Christmas Day. An LBD has always been a great workhorse in my wardrobe, and this just has that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that epitomises French style. The delicate lace at the cuffs, the knotted detail at the waist, and the otherwise demure silhouette is simply divine. If I weren’t pregnant, I’d be placing an order just to get my hands on this dress.
08 | the tinai blouse
I thought I’d wrap up my Sezane Winter 2019 Collection picks with three blouse favourites, starting with the Tinai blouse. It’s 100% cotton, and has the prettiest inlaid lace bands all over. It’s feminine, but looks like it would be counterbalanced nicely with a great pair of jeans. Depending on your climate, this is one of those pieces that would work almost year round, depending on how you wore it. In the spring and summer, I’d push up the sleeves and pair it with high waisted shorts and denim skirts. For winter, I’d let the pretty collar and cuffs peek out from under a sweater, or wear it with a chunky cardigan and skinny jeans.
09 | the ann shirt
One thing I’m dying to try from Sezane are their silk shirts. I’ve heard such good things, and the Ann looks like a great option. On paper, it sounds simple. A black silk shirt. But up close, you can see the flecked jacquard pattern which would almost shimmer when it catches the light. The white and black versions are totally up my street, but it comes in a punchy coral too.
10 | the anna shirt
My final pick from the Sezane Winter 2019 Collection is the Anna shirt. This gives me major Lover vibes circa 2006. The inlaid lace bands and ruffled collar have a romantic Victoriana feel to them – again, easily offset with something more relaxed on the lower half. Aside from looking gorgeous on its own, this is another blouse that would be great to layer under knitwear with that delicious collar peeking out. I also loved that this is 100% silk too!
I’d love to know if you’re planning on buying anything (and if so, what?!). If it’s your first order, you can read a little bit about my first (disaster) of an experience HERE, and how my second order went HERE.
