It’s been a hot minute since I last shared some of my favourite picks from Sezane. Truth be told I’ve been doing a lot less window shopping, and ever the temptress, I’ve not kept on top of the brand’s recent collections. But my interest was piqued when I caught a glimpse of the Sezane Winter ’21 collection. Autumn/Winter is when the brand really shines in my eyes, and I was excited to see what they had in store; mostly in case anything felt like a good fit for my A/W ’22 wardrobe.
So as I’ve done previously, I’m going to break down my five favourite picks from the new Sezane Winter ’21 Collection, and why.
Would love to know in the comments below if you plan to buy anything!
Sezane James Coat
Starting with my top pick, the James Coat. This is a style that Sezane tends to recut annually; and my advice when you’re splurging on something special is to stick with the classics. I especially love that this coat is reimagined in new colours and textures, which helps keep it interesting and gives you the option to branch out beyond the classic black, navy or camel. The muted coral pink adds a touch of femininity to the boxy nature of the silhouette, while still feeling like a relative neutral.
Sezane Romeo Jumper
Next we have the Romeo Jumper, which I specifically like in the ivory. Half-zip sweaters were a huge trend in 2020, and I’m glad to see them continuing through 2021 too. They’re cosy and practical, and add some fun style elements around the neckline. It’s the cable-knit for me. Bringing a heritage feel to this modern classic, and it’s nice to see gold hardware, too. So often knits like this will have a silver or gunmetal zipper, and the gold adds warmth to the overall vibe. It’s a merino wool, cotton and polyamide mix, so it’s going to have a hefty feel to it. I’ve personally made a rule that I’ll only buy cotton, alpaca or merino wool knits from Sezane so sadly that rules this one out, but if you’re less particular on composition than I am, then I feel like it’s a great option.
Sezane Rosemary Shirt
One of my all-time best purchases from Sezane is the Chloe Shirt. A washed silk blouse with an embroidered and scalloped band along the collar and placket. Details which are feminine and delicate, but also feel elevated and special. The Rosemary Shirt to me, is an update on this, with additional feminine flounces. I’ve learnt my lesson, in that I don’t like a lot of ruffle or embellishment around the neckline. Though in this instance, I think the washed silk softens any potential for this. I’d probably wear this mostly unbuttoned, though love that you have options. In addition to the ecru, it comes in a soft rose hue too. Assuming the fit on this blouse is the same as the Chloe, I’d recommend sizing up if you like your blouses to have a relaxed, effortless fit.
Sezane Alicia Skirt
Another item that I already own, but I think it’s worth highlighting when you love a style. Especially if it’s a brand’s signature. The Alicia Skirt is one which similar to the James Coat, gets reimagined each season. This is a bit more of a year-rounder, as the subtle (high) side slit and nature of the design mean that the print designation is really the only determining factor as to when you’d prefer to style it. I have mine in a black viscose with ditsy floral. Spring-like, but not so specific that I couldn’t wear it in winter. This new floral, with abstract pansies in marigold, violet and magenta on a black base, has a similar feel. I imagine it would look incredible paired with a black bustier in the summer, but equally I like how they styled it in the lookbook with a vibrant emerald knit. Versatility is key with items like this, and the Alicia Skirt has it in spades. Stick with your usual size on this one. As an FYI, the Carolina Skirt is very good too.
Sezane Mini Farrow Bag
Last pick from the Sezane Winter ’21 Collection, and I thought I’d touch on an accessory. On reflection, this Mini Farrow Bag is definitely one I’ve mentioned before. Clearly a style I can’t get out of my mind (and another one that Sezane have available year round!). I love a bucket bag, and the olive green in particular caught my eye. They recently added personalisation options for this bag, which makes it a nice gifting option. Plus the mini size is so cute! I’ve purchased a few leather items from Sezane in the past, so can vouch for the quality. So to be fair, I’m not really sure what’s been stopping me…
PS. Have you read this post on style rules, and why I’m not putting much weight on them these days?
